RACE NIGHT RECAP

Mod-Mini
Green flag out on the Mod-Mini’s, and points leader Tommy Metler and Brian Berkley lead them down into turn 1. Berkley with the quick advantage, with Metler in 2nd, but here comes Michael Courtney, he’ll look on the inside for 2nd off turn 2 on lap 1, and Courtney will take over the 2nd spot and try to run down Berkley. Courtney pulls inside Berkley for the lead on lap 3, but caution will fly as Tony Stanton has spun in turn 2.

Green flag back in the air, Courtney feeling a turn 1 challenge from Berkley, but Berkley will fall in line off turn 2. Metler in 3rd with Josh Ellis in 4th and Dave Lewis rounding out the top 5. Ellis still hot on the tire tracks of Metler, as we have 5 laps to go. Ellis trying to hold off Lewis in the process. Lewis pulls inside Ellis off turn 2, but doesn’t have much power off the corner, as we now see the leader, Michael Courtney, has put over a half lap lead on 2nd place, and now Courtney begins to back-pedal as he catches lapped traffic, he’s only a half straightaway behind Lewis, as the white flag flies. Metler still in 3rd, Courtney pulls up to the rear bumper of Lewis as he takes the checkers in this one. Berkley 2nd, and Metler will cross the line 3rd

Topless Modifieds
Green flag in the air for the Topless Modifieds, and Keith Gregory takes the early lead, but caution quickly flies on lap 1 as Tyler James spins in turn 2 on lap 1. Green flag back in the air, Gregory gets away with the early lead again, but Chase King is knocking on his rear spoiler, he’s on the inside of Layne Clifton, but now Gregory loses the handle in turn 3 and 4, but manages to hold onto the lead for now. Chase King takes over the 2nd spot, put Clifton in 3rd, with Craig Gregg in 4th, and the top 4 are lined up single file as we get to lap 6. Chase King is all over Gregory, and now he wants the lead, but he’ll fall in line. Points leader Josh Driskill had troubles in the heat race, and has not joined this field, so he’ll take a hit in points, but here comes Chase King, he’ll take over the lead off turn 2 here on lap 8, but Gregory wants it back, he’ll get loose off turn 2 and give up the 2nd spot, as now he’s feeling a challenge from behind, but caution will fly here on lap 9 as James spins again.

Green flag in the air again, Chase King sets sail, Gregory tries to throw a rope on Chase King, but behind them, Gregg spins in turn 4, and Ronnie King has nowhere to go, and Ronnie King will find the rear of his car on the hood of Craig Gregg’s car, and we’ll be under caution again here on lap 9.

Green flag in the air, Chase King takes off with the lead, Gregory gets a little loose off turn 2, give the 2nd spot to Clifton, and now Ronnie King moves into the 3rd spot, as Gregory and Ronnie King make a little casual contact on the backstretch, but the top 2 have checked out so far, but caution flies again here on lap 12 as James gets into Gregg on the frontstretch, and Gregg has extensive damage, but he’ll continue on.

Green flag back in the air, Chase King takes off turn 2 with the lead, Gregory looking to run down Clifton, as Ronnie King gets sideways in turn 4, but he’ll gather it up and continue on. Layne Clifton is tired of the Chase King show, he wants to change that tonight, as he’s had several looks for the lead, but now he’s fallen off the leader, with a challenge from Gregory from behind. Checkers in the air, Chase King wins again, Clifton takes 2nd, and 3rd is Keith Gregory.
NOTE: It was brought to my attention following the feature that Josh Driskill was driving the #00 of Jeff Akard. The race director was not aware of this change, and I am currently awaiting word on the whether the driver change was approved or not.

Super Trucks
Green flag in the air, and Clyde Stanton quickly takes off with the lead off turn 2, Rocky Ogle in 2nd, and Robbie Comer in 3rd. Robert Martin pulls up in 4th, but our first caution flies here on lap 1 as Freddy Hillard spins in turn 2. Green flag in the air with a lap in the books. Stanton takes off with the lead, Ogle in 2nd, and Comer still in 3rd. Here comes Comer, he’s on the inside of Ogle, looking to take over the 2nd spot, they’ll battle side by side as they both start catching Stanton, and Comer now looking on the inside in turn 1 and will drag race down the backstretch on lap 4, they complete 5 laps, give the lead to Comer. Stanton looks inside again for the lead, but he’ll fall back in line, and a lap later he’ll see what he can do to run down “The Dominator” here as we complete 7 laps. Nothing else really happening in this one, Comer takes the win.

Street Stocks
Green flag in the air, points leader Raymond Shepard and Brad Mills quickly take off with the lead, but they get together down the backstretch, and Phil Davis now looking for the lead, but Shepard leads the way. Davis in 2nd, and Mills in 3rd. 2008 and 2009 champ Jason Ogle has moved into the 4th spot. And here comes Mills, he’ll power into the 2nd spot as Ogle is now challenging for the 3rd spot, but Davis hangs on for now. Mills trying to run down Shepard for the lead, he’s slowly catching the leader, as the battle for 3rd is ongoing. Ogle pulls to the rear bumper of Davis, he wants around him but he can’t quite make the pass without making contact. Shepard has pulled away with this one now, as Mills is being caught from behind. 11 laps in the books Mills starting to pull away from Davis and Ogle. Davis is starting to catch Mills, but the caution will fly here on lap 13 as Brian Dinkins spins in turn 2, does a 360 and continues on.

Green flag back in the air once more, Mills pushes Shepard, Davis pulls into the loose dirt down low, and Mills hangs onto 2nd. Davis inside for the 2nd spot, Mills still has it here on lap 15, but Jason Ogle catches up to Davis a little too fast in turn 1 and will spin in turn 2 here on lap 15.

Green flag back out on the field. Shepard takes away with the lead again, Mills in 2nd, and Davis still fighting and now white flag in the air, Shepard has slowed off turn 2, his night is apparently done, Davis and Mills are now fighting for the win here on the last lap, and Phil Davis will be handed the win. Tough break strikes the points leader yet again.

Classics
Green flag out on the field, Mack McCarter takes off with the lead, Andy Ogle in 2nd, and Adam Engel in 3rd, but Bobby Pressley spins in turn 2 and caution will be out. Green flag back out on the field, McCarter takes off with the lead, as Andy Ogle slows on the frontstretch, and can’t quite get into the infield, and caution will fly here on lap 3.

Green flag back out, McCarter takes off with the lead again, Adam Engel briefly looks for the lead, but now he’s fallen off from McCarter, and Bart Baxter looks to challenge for the 2nd spot. Baxter has now driven off into the infield, so now Adam Engel is being challenged by Pressley. And McCarter picks up yet another win! Adam Engel in 2nd and 3rd is Bobby Pressley.

Late Models
Green flag out on this late model field, the track is kind of slick, so we’ll see the true talents of these stars shine! Rusty Ballenger and Ryan King lead them into turn 1, but caution flies quickly as Andy Ogle spins in turn 1, and we’ll see a complete restart. Green flag, we’ll try this again. Ballenger and King lead them into turn 1, Ballenger this time gets the jump, with Brad Lowe making it 3 wide, Ballenger gets loose, and here comes points leader Josh Collins, he powers around King for 2nd, he’ll look outside of Ballenger, he’ll get too high and have to back out of it a bit, but caution will fly here on lap 2 as Donnie Moore spins and Luke Fox has nowhere to go, and will be collected.

Green flag back out, Ballenger leads them into turn 1, Collins looking inside for the lead, he’ll fall in line and try it again. Lowe looks inside Collins for 2nd, give the 2nd spot to Lowe, but Collins with the run up high, he’ll power back to keep the challenge going, and now Lowe looks to challenge for the lead. Ballenger still your leader, caution flies here as Moore slows and he’ll exit the speedway after the caution here on lap 7.

Green flag out on the field, Ballenger takes off with the lead, but he’ll have to hold off a hard charging Brad Lowe. Collins starting to muscle his way up, Lowe goes way inside to look for the lead, but now going into turn 3, Brad Lowe’s efforts to wrestle the lead from Ballenger will go up in smoke here on lap 9, as Brad Lowe will grenade a motor.

Green flag out on the field, Ballenger takes off with the lead, Collins now finds himself in 2nd, with Ryan King behind him. King now looking to challenge Collins, he’ll fall in line. Meanwhile, Eric Tipton has gotten around Mark Rosner for the 5th spot, as Freddy Romines, fresh off his first heat race win, tries to hold onto position over Pierce McCarter. But Rosner spins in turn 4, and that’ll put us under caution here again on lap 14.

Green flag in the air again, Ballenger tries to hold off Collins, as 2009 champ Jason Cardwell now moves into the 3rd position, he’s been coming all night, Ryan King has a left-front tire flat, and he’ll slow to a stop to bring out caution here on lap 15.

Green flag back in the air, we’re halfway. Collins inside to take the lead, he’ll fall in behind Ballenger. Cardwell now inside Collins for 2nd, but they’ll run 2 lines, and the high line is what’s going tonight. Collins with a big run down the backstretch, he’ll keep the run down the frontstretch and now he’ll pull inside in turn 1. He’ll take over the lead off turn 2, but wait, Ballenger isn’t a pushover, he’ll pull inside for a slingshot, but McCarter will spin in turn 2 here on lap 19, and caution will fly, and Ballenger will be your leader.

11 laps left for Rusty Ballenger. Can he hold off the points leader? How about 2009 champ Cardwell? We’ll find out in 11 or less laps! GREEN FLAG! Ballenger up high, Collins down low in turn 1, Collins will fall in line, Ballenger your leader, but here comes Cardwell, he’ll pull inside Collins, but Collins with the run down the backstretch, he’ll keep 2nd. Collins all over Ballenger, he’ll look on the outside, but nothing doing yet. Ballenger trying to cut off the high line, but here comes Collins, he’ll pull inside for the lead, wash up a little bit, and Ballenger goes to the 2nd spot. Ballenger trying to run down Collins, but the “Highside Rocket” will turn on the boosters, but caution will fly here on lap 24 as Ryan King and Freddy Romines get together and spin in turn 2.

6 laps remain in this one, does anybody have anything for Collins? GREEN FLAG! Ballenger trying to throw a rope and lasso Collins and try to wrestle the lead away, but Collins is setting sail with this one. Ballenger in 2nd, and Cardwell in 3rd. Clyde Stanton is in the 4th spot, and 5th is Josh Henry. Checkers in the air, Collins takes the win, followed by Rusty Ballenger and Jason Cardwell.
