RACE NIGHT RECAP

Mod-Mini
In Mod-Mini action, we saw Chuck McMahan and Brian Berkley lead the field to the green flag. Berkley took over the lead off turn 2 on the first lap, while the current points leader Tommy Metler fell into the 3rd position. Cory Cate and Nick Perry would get around Metler to put Metler back into the 5th position at lap 4. On lap 8, McMahan pulls inside Berkley for the lead in turn 2, and Berkley gets sideway out of the corner and wrestles his machine back up high to give McMahan room to run, and McMahan will take over the lead down the backstretch on lap 8. Berkley seems to be having some handling issues suddenly, as the car seems to get wicked loose and then tight. McMahan has pulled away so far with 11 laps in the books. Cate takes over the 2nd spot but Perry looks to challenge Cate, as our first caution will fly here on lap 12 as Berkley finally lost the handling and spins in the middle of turns 1 and 2. Cate surprisingly pulls into the pit area. With the green flag in the air, McMahan pulls away with the lead, while Perry pulls in 2nd, with Metler pulling up into the 3rd position. Cate, who has returned to the speedway, pulls to the inside of Metler, but our 2nd caution will fly as Ellis spins in the middle of turns 1 and 2 here on lap 15. Green flag in the air, Metler makes contact with Perry off turn 2, but off turn 4, Perry will lose a left-rear wheel and our 3rd caution will fly. With the final green flag in the air, McMahan pulls away with the lead again and will not look back, as Cate pulls inside to take 2nd, while Berkley makes it 3 wide and takes over the 2nd spot, and now Cate pulls inside and back into the 2nd spot. But then almost immediately afterwards, Cate pulls into the infield quickly, now give Berkley the 2nd spot, with Metler in 3rd. McMahan takes the win, Berkley takes 2nd and Metler gets 3rd.

Under the 3rd caution, Tommy Metler stopped at the pit exit off turn 2. We saw medical personnel taking a look at Metler, but Metler continued on. It was later determined that the brake drum off Nick Perry’s machine, bounced off the wall, then off the hood of Metler’s car, and flew into the car from the passenger side windshield area, and hit Metler in the shoulder. Metler would let paramedics look over the shoulder immediately after the feature event, and although very sore, Metler should be fine over the next few days.

Topless Modifieds
The next division onto the speedway is the Topless Modifieds, and their division is picking up cars as well as extra fans. Chase King and points leader Josh Driskill lead them to the green flag, and as we’ve seen alot of the past few weeks, Chase King takes off with the lead off turn 2. Driskill hangs onto 2nd, but here comes Layne Clifton, he’ll take over the 2nd spot, with Johnny Ridings riding in 4th. Our first caution will fly here on lap 3 as debris is on the frontstretch after Craig Gregg and Ronnie King beat and bang a bit, and some of Ronnie’s new debut paint scheme is dropped on the frontstretch. With the green flag back in the air, Clifton right in the tire tracks of Driskill, looking for the 2nd spot. Keith Gregory pulls inside Ridings for the 4th spot, but at least for right now, Gregory will have to fall in line. With 6 laps complete, Ridings and Gregory are closing in on Clifton. But our 2nd caution will fly here on lap 7 as Kyle Cole and Craig Gregg get together in turn 4. Green flag back in the air. Chase King leads them down into turn 1, while Clifton pulls inside Driskill for the 2nd spot, he’ll fall in line off turn 2, while Gregory falls in behind Ridings off turn 4. But our 3rd  caution will fly as Tyler James spins in turn 2. With the green flag in the air one more time, Clifton will pull inside for the 2nd spot once again, this time, give Clifton the 2nd spot. Gregory powers inside for the 4th spot, and now he’s working on Driskill. Gregory and Driskill side by side off turn 4 as they complete lap 11. Clifton gets sideways off turn 2, Driskill gets room ahead of Gregory, but Gregory isn’t done yet. He’ll keep running his line and try to run down Driskill and wait for a mistake from Driskill, as Ridings has caught up with Gregory, and now Ridings on the inside of Gregory, give the 4th spot to Ridings. Gregory slows down the backstretch and will pull into the infield. Chase King still your leader, Clifton in 2nd, and Driskill in 3rd. Our 4th caution flies here with only 2 laps to go, Ronnie King and Tyler James get together in turn 4. And what a tough night for Ronnie King tonight, he’s debuted a new paint scheme, and through the heat race and feature, there is no longer a straight panel on that machine. With the green flag in the air one last time, Clifton pulls inside for the lead, but he’ll fall back in line off turn 2. Ridings now pulls into the 3rd spot, and with the white flag in the air, Clifton trying to run down Chase King, but he won‘t have anything for him. Checkers in the air, Chase King, Layne Clifton, Johnny Ridings your top 3.

Super Trucks
Next division up on the speedway are the Super Trucks. Robbie Comer is up to 10 wins this season, and you can add one more to that list as he now is 11-for-14. Not much going on tonight in this class, Rocky Ogle and Robert Martin beat and banged a little bit for the 3rd position, Hillard tried for all 20 laps to run down Comer, but just didn’t have anything for him.

Street Stocks
The next division out on the speedway is the Street Stocks. These guys don’t care to beat and bang, in fact, it’s all part of the show! Andy Diggs and points leader Raymond Shepard lead the field down into turn 1, but "Rightfoot" Shepard lets his right-foot do the talking, as he takes the lead off turn 2. Brad Mills on the inside of Jon Cook, fresh off a Friday night win at Wartburg Speedway, and Mills will make contact with Cook, and Cook will fall in behind 2009 champion Jason Ogle, and put him in 5th as we complete lap 2. Diggs not letting Shepard get away, as Mills is working on closing in on both drivers, but the setup isn’t exactly right tonight, as we see Ogle have some issues in turn 2. Diggs in the 2nd spot trying to make a challenge on Shepard for the lead. Diggs still all over Shepard, as they’ll catch lap traffic. Shepard takes the low line on the lappers, Diggs still wants to challenge, but our 1st caution will fly here on lap 10 as Brian Dinkins spins in turn 2. With the green flag back in the air, Shepard picks up where he left off and pulls away from the field off turn 2, with Mills and Diggs looking to catch Shepard. Now Diggs looks inside of Shepard for the lead. Diggs gets loose in turn 2, and that opens the door for Mills, but the 2nd caution flies here on lap 13 as Justin McCarter spins in turn 2. With the green flag in the air one last time, Diggs powers inside here on lap 14 to try to take over the lead, but he’ll now slow off turn 2. Shepard your race leader, Mills in 2nd and Cook is in 3rd, and that’s all the cars we have left with 4 laps remaining. Checkers in the air, and that’s the way they’ll finish!

Classics
The next division onto the speedway is the Classics, and the car count has remained steady around 6 cars, so the action hasn’t been the best, as Mack McCarter has been whipping the competition, winning features by no less than a half straightaway lead, and tonight was no exception. With the green flag in the air, McCarter pulls off turn 2 with the lead, Andy Ogle, the current points leader, now makes contact with McCarter in turn 1 after they complete the first lap, Ogle will lose a right-front tire, and Adam Hicks spins in turns 1 and 2 and Bart Baxter and Marvin Ray have nowhere to go and will make some contact with Hicks and the first and only caution will be out, and we’ll give Ray and Ogle a moment to change their tires before we go back green. Both drivers return to the speedway in time, and the green flag is back in the air. McCarter will run away with the lead at this point, while Bobby Pressley now in 2nd, with Adam Engel in 3rd. Baxter now falls in the 4th spot, but he’s looking to challenge Engel for the 3rd spot. Baxter takes over the 3rd spot, as Engel now rides in 4th. It’s still all McCarter in this one, as Ogle has more trouble, and your points leader pulls into the pit area here on lap 8. Checkers will fly in this one, McCarter takes the win, Baxter in 2nd, and 3rd will be Pressley.

Late Models
With the fireworks in the air, the late models have fired their engines, and they’re getting ready to rumble. $1,000 is on the line, 40 laps will be completed tonight, Brad Lowe and Ryan King will be your front row!

GREEN FLAG IN THE AIR!! Lowe and King take off with the lead, while points leader Josh Collins and 2009 champ Jason Cardwell battle it out, they’ll switch lines and Collins will go up high and Cardwell down low, where they’re both used to running, but they’re all chasing Brad Lowe at this point. Lowe your leader, King 2nd, and Cardwell now in 3rd here on lap 4, but our 1st caution flies in turn 4 as Kurt English and Freddy Romines spin together, and we’ll be under the yellow flag here on lap 4. With the green flag in the air one more time, Lowe powers off the line, King in 2nd and 3rd is Cardwell. Collins in 4th, but now David Miley gets sideways in turn 2, but he’ll get going and we’ll stay green. Collins has moved to the inside line, looking for a way around Cardwell, but Cardwell is on the bottom too, so Collins will have to work if he wants around Cardwell. Lowe still your leader, King still 2nd, and the battle for 3rd is still raging, as Collins is keeping up with Cardwell, as the top 2 have stretched out their lead as we complete lap 11. Ballenger leaning on Tipton down into turn 1, he wants around Tipton, but he’ll have to fall in line. Meanwhile, Lowe is starting to put cars down a lap, but our 2nd caution will fly here in turn 2 on lap 13 as Kurt English slows to a stop to get the caution, and he’ll pull away once the caution flies. The green flag flies one final time, Cardwell now pulls inside King through 1 and 2, as Collins is now working the top, and Freddy Romines has moved around Pierce McCarter for position, he’s looking pretty good tonight, but Collins pulls a power move on Cardwell in turn 1 way down low, impressive! Give the 3rd spot to Collins. Collins kicks the dirt up high in 1 and 2 as he gets in the loose stuff, he’s making himself a new line, and he’s running down King. Lowe your leader, King in 2nd, Collins in 3rd, Cardwell in 4th, and 5th is Clyde Stanton. We are now halfway done in this one, 20 down, 20 to go, Collins has caught back up with King, and King appears to be closing in on Lowe, ever so slightly. Ballenger on the inside of Stanton for the 5th spot, they’ll keep their battle raging, Lowe now battling lap traffic, as the field is starting to catch some good cars here on lap 25. David Miley is doing a pretty good job after his encounter with the spin cycle, he’s just ahead of Romines and holding on. Back up front, Lowe still your leader, King in 2nd, and Collins in 3rd. Ballenger and Stanton are still battling with each other, as they’re catching Cardwell, while the top 3 have checked out. We now have 7 laps to go, Ballenger is still trying to get around Stanton, while Lowe is still battling lap traffic. 4 laps remain, King is catching Lowe for the lead, now 3 laps to go. White flag in the air, Lowe and King will battle this one out, they’ll come off turn 2, Lowe pulls inside of English, English comes down a little, Lowe has to back out of it, Lowe and English make contact it appears and Ryan King backs off too to give room for Lowe, and with the checkers in the air, Brad Lowe gets the win, Ryan King gets 2nd, and Josh Collins in 3rd!

Pure Mini
And last division onto the speedway are the Pure-Mini’s. Last week’s feature winner Brad Cross makes the trip from Cleveland, TN, to show off his muscle, and picks up his 2nd feature win in a row. David Singleton finishes 2nd, with Crossville, TN’s Robert Stone finishing in the 3rd spot.
