Bradley Lewelling Scores Another 604 Win

After last weekend’s Sportsman Shootout, it was back to weekly racing action as Tennessee’s Action Track wrapped up the month of September.

The 20 lap Sportsman feature would be up first. It was a strong field of cars on hand as some of the top Sportsman competitors were signed in to do battle. Terry Poore and Noah Phillips would earn the front row for the A main by winning their heat races earlier in the day. The Green Waved and Poore took control with Phillips, Adam Mitchell, Brady Lee who was making his debut at the 4-1-1 in his late model and Cameron Weaver making up the top five. Poore tried to inch away out font with the lead but the battle for second was tight as Phillips in his McCarter Brothers machine began to chew into the lead. The leaders caught the back of the pack just halfway into the feature until a caution for the slowing car of Dalton King. Adam Mitchell is always a top runner at the 4-1-1 and he had another great run going as he powered past Phillips and into the runner up spot. The two would battle it out the remainder of the feature allowing Poore to pull away and pick up his second win of the regular season.

The Street Stock feature would be up next. Shannon Emery and Austin Byrd would lead the field into turn one with Bobby Petty, Gary Blanken and Chris Kelly in chase. Trouble for the #6 of Nick Baker would bring an early caution, coming just two laps into the feature. Jerry Hux would also pull off track under the caution with mechanical issues. Back under green it was a great battle between Emery and Byrd as they inched away from Petty who held down the third spot. Gary Blanken would loop his #69 machine in turn two bringing out the caution and ending his bid for a top five. Petty had now reeled in the leaders making it a three-car fight for the top spot. Emery would hold them off to pick up the win.

Trouble would find Lamping early as his #R3 machine would slow with issues. Back under green, Adams was putting on a clinic as he worked his way into the lead. Another caution would wave shortly after for debris. Under the caution the #26 of Michael Lambert would slow and end up retiring for the night. Lewelling, Henderson, and Ross White made up the top three as we went green. Tempers seemed to be flaring between Henderson and White as the two made heavy contact on several occasions in the opening laps. White would eventually be able to get the second spot as he tried to reel in Lewelling. Trouble for the #13 of Conner Pate who slowed and pulled off the racing surface early. Lewelling was setting a blistering pace and found himself catching the rear of the field. It wouldn’t slow him down any as he went on to score the win by almost a half-track over Ross White and Tyler Price.

Joseph McGill would jump out front on the opening lap with Johnny Grooms, Jason Long and Anthony Brown in chase. Groom’s bid for three consecutive wins would come to an early end as he’d loop his #93 in turn two and pull off track under the caution. Jason Long would keep the pressure on McGill until he made hard contact with the turn three wall ending his night. McGill would pull away in the final laps for the win.
