Lewelling Takes 604 Late Model Win

It was another round of Weekly Racing action at Tennessee’s Action Track.

The 20 lap Sportsman feature would be up first. Hayden Cardwell and Adam Mitchell would lead us to green with Terry Poore and Cory Cait in pursuit. Trouble early for the #11 of Tim Bounds as he slowed on the exit of four bringing out the caution. Back under green the battle for the lead was on as Mitchell and Cardwell exchanged sliders several times for the top spot. It wasn’t just racing for the lead that was intense as Coby Horner put the pressure on Baily Cardwell for the fourth position. The caution would wave again for the #07 of Davin Cardwell as he pulled off track with a cut tire. After some attention from his crew, he’d return to the race. Back under green and it looked to be a two-man battle for the win. Both drivers used the high line keeping up the momentum setting a blistering pace. Cardwell would take one last dive going into turn four for the win which resulted in Mitchell spinning wildly into the infield.

Next up would be the 20 lap Street Stock feature. Austin Byrd would put his #13 on top of the scoreboard ahead of JD Smith, Josh Henry and Ryan Watson. Henry was set on go immediately as he turned up the heat on Smith for the second spot. He’d make the move taking the runner up spot and began working on Byrd for the lead. Gary Blanken was also on the move as he tried to work over Ryan Watson for the fifth spot. The top three put on a fantastic battle for the lead but on lap 12 Henry would get a big run and take the top spot away. Henry would catch the tail-end of the field but a caution on lap 17 would slow the pace. It was all B00 in the final three laps as he’d hold on to score his third win of the season since the 4-1-1 returned to weekly racing.

Nick Adams would lead us to green with Michael Lambert, Bryson Elliott and Ricky Ritenour making up your top runners on the start. The caution would wave for the #21 of Josh Ramsey who was replacing Dyer as he went for a spin. The #10 of Danny Sandiford would put down a ton of fluid resulting in a lengthy red flag situation. A stacked field of 604 Late Model drivers were on hand to do battle. Bradley Lewelling was fresh off a runner-up finish last night at another area track and was looking to better his finish by one position on this night. He’d put his #10B on point with Brad Seagle, Hayden Cardwell and Baily Cardwell in pursuit. It was a battle of brothers as Zach and Trevor Sise fought it out for the sixth position in the opening laps. Zach Sise would have problems as he’d bring out the caution and have to be towed off the racing surface, ending his night early. Back under green and Hayden Cardwell would throw a couple sliders on the top two but had to fall back in line in the third position.
