Pierce McCarter Scores 604 Late Model Win

It was another round of weekly racing at Tennessee’s Action Track as the racing was as hot as the blistering sun.

The 20 lap Classic Car feature would be up first. Mark Sise had dominated the class all season long but was not in competition which opened the door for a new winner. Travis Ward would lead us to green with Nick Baker and Bryson Phillips in chase. Baker would get loose on the exit of two resulting in him losing all his track position. Trevor Sise was taking the night off from his 604 late model to compete in the Classic cars. He had some engine issues in qualifying but seemed to have them fixed as he picked his way up through into the runner up spot. Baker would loop his #74 machine in turn two bringing out the caution. It would end up being a blessing as he’d be able to restart at the tail but would work his way up to the second spot by race end.

Curtis Thomas and Noah Phillips would lead us to green for the Sportsman feature. Thomas had been perfect all day, setting fast time in qualifying and winning his heat race. However, it would be Phillips who put his McCarter Brothers racing #71 on point. The caution would wave on lap 10 slowing the pace. The #18 of Nicholas Phillips had a strong run going in his 2023 debut at the 4-1-1 as he worked on getting himself into the top five. Phillips began to inch away out front but the fight was on Adam Mitchell battled it out with Colby Horner. Seth Jolly had a crash in his heat race which resulted in him starting at the tail of the field but he was on a drive as he looked to redeem himself for his spin in the heat. The caution would wave again on lap 17 for the #92 of Cory Cate who slowed on the exit of turn two setting up a short sprint to the finish. Phillips would hold on to pick up his first win of the year.

Price quickly began to put the heat on Lewelling for the second spot as they chased McCarter. Trouble for the #9 of Jared Witt who pulled off track early with issues. The caution would wave for Tiffany Hensley who went for a wild spin on the backstretch and down into the infield. She’d be okay but her night was over.
