Henry, Thomas and Sise Claim Feature Wins

It was round two of the 4-1-1’s return to weekly racing with another full slate of racing action on the schedule.

The Classic Car division would be up first for a 20 lap feature. The Sise’s have dominated the division and would once again start on the front row of the feature. The green waved and it would be Shaun Sise who put his #16 on point ahead of Mark Sise, Bryson Phillips, Jesse Hickman and Chris Griffin. As the top two began to inch away the racing was intense for the third spot as Phillips and Hickman battled it out. Just five laps in and Mark Sise would get a run off turn two and take the top spot. Jesse Hickman started in the rear but was on the move as he would work his way up into the third spot by race end.

1: #35 Mark Sise
2: #J16 Shaun Sise
3: #69 Jesse Hickman
4: #15 Chris Griffin
5: #56 Bryson Phillips

The Sportsman division would be second on the schedule for another 20 lap feature. Curtis Thomas and Adam Mitchell would lead the field to green but a quick caution on the start would slow the pace as the #C11 of Roy Norwood Jr would get damage. The damage would be too severe as he’d have to be towed off the track, ending his night early. Back under green and it was Thomas, Mitchell, Noah Phillips, and Tim Bounds your top runners. The #32 of Bronson Beasley would have a rough night as he’d go for a couple spins. Lee Merritt was making his Sportsman debut but seemed to be having engine issues as he’d pull off track in the opening laps. The caution would wave on lap four for debris slowing the pace. Back under green and it was a two man race as Mitchell was working the bottom trying to get the top spot away from Thomas. The leaders would find themselves in lap traffic as they fought it out for the lead. In the second half, Thomas was able to run away and pick up his first win of the season.

Josh Henry would lead the strong field of Street Stocks to green with Austin Byrd, Tyler James. Sam Burgess and JD Smith the top five on the start. The caution would wave early as the #8X of Travis Coggins would spin in turn four. Back under green and the battle between Smith and Greg Husky was intense as the two had issues earlier in the day during the heat race. They wouldn’t give the other an inch as emotions still seemed to be running high. Henry and Byrd had put some distance on James as he had his hands full with Burgess who would slip by taking the spot. The rain began to fall but the race would continue as Byrd had new chewed into the lead Henry had built up. The caution would wave on lap 15 as the #28 of Smith would go for a spin in turn two. The rain would pick up and the race would be called five laps early.

Since half of the features were completed plus heats last night’s program is going to be considered a complete race. With next weeks race being a Special Event with all classes running plus the Area 51 for Open Wheels, which will consist of heats, LCQ’s, and a 51 Lap Feature there is no way we can complete all of those races plus makeup races for the 604’s, FWD’s, and Crown Vic’s. So instead of trying to do all of this we’re going to put off the rained out portion of last nights races until July 22nd and run double features for those 3 classes that night.
There will be no rain checks with it being a complete event with over half being completed. Tickets for next week July 15 will be as follows $10 grandstands and $30 pit passes for the Area 51 event.
We’ll return the following Saturday July 22 with a full racing program featuring all 6 weekly classes plus the 3 makeup features from last night that weren’t completed.
I understand this will not satisfy everyone but it’s the best possible
scenario to finish last nights racing with a Special Event squeezed in between.
Tickets for July 22 will be weekly prices of $10 grandstands and $25 pit passes.
Starting earlier on the 15th was considered but racing at around 4 PM with possible temperatures likely in the upper 80’s to mid 90’s just wasn’t a good option for anyone involved.
Thank you for your understanding and patience and like I said Rainouts don’t benefit anyone.
Lineups will be posted for the eligible cars that can compete in both races later today.
We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but there’s no way we’ll please everyone.
