Adam Stricker Claims Third Annual Area 51

The Open Wheel Modifieds were taking center stage on this night for the third annual Area 51 paying $5,100 to win. The first event of the night would be the 25 lap 604 Late Model feature. Fresh off a win just 24 hours earlier at Crossville Speedway, Hayden Cardwell would put his #22 on pole for the feature. The green waved and Cardwell would power off turn two with the lead ahead of Bradley Lewelling, Rusty Ballenger, Greg Martin and Terry Poore your top competitors on the start. Ballenger doesn’t work by the hour, so he was quick to put heat on Lewelling for the runner up spot. Baily Cardwell and Josh Henry didn’t have the best starting spots, but they had a great battle for position just outside the top five early on. As Cardwell began to run away with the lead, Ballenger had now taken control of the runner up spot pushing Lewelling back to third. Trouble for the #7 of Tyler Price would bring out the caution as his machine slowed off the exit of turn four. Back under green and Greg Martin was all over Terry Poore for the fourth spot. Cardwell would drive away to pick up his second win in as many nights.

The Sportsman feature was up next for their 20-lap feature. Addison Cardwell would put his #25 on top of the scoreboard at the start with Brad Seagle, Dustin Ratliff, Joe Bray and Quincy Adams giving pursuit. Trouble would show its head early as the #55 of Brandon McDaniel went for a loop in turn two. Back under green and Devin Cardwell took a look inside Ratliff for the third spot but had to fall back in line. The #50 of Adam Mitchell had mechanical issues in qualifying but was on a mission as he had already cracked the top six before the halfway point of the race. The top two were setting a fast pace and found themselves in slower traffic as the laps ticked off. Trouble for the #32 of Adams who pulled off with issues ending his hopes for a top five finish. It would be all Cardwell out front who cruised to the win.

It was a fantastic battle early between Keck, Merritt and Byrd as they had a three wide battle for the third spot. Trouble for the #67 of Tyler Wright who pulled off with smoke trailing his machine. The top two were in their own zip code as Devine ran in the tire tracks of Clark chasing down the lead. CB McKinnon had a top five run going but went up in smoke on lap 8 ending his night. After cleanup, it was back to racing with Clark still in control. He’d inch away from Devine and pick up the win.

Next up was the 51 lap Area 51 paying $5,100 to the Open Wheel Modifieds. The #4 of Victor Lee would jump out to the early lead with 2020 winner Josh Harris, Adam Stricker, Taylor Cook and Lucas Lee in chase. The feature would come to an early end for the #155 of Peyton Harlow as he slowed on just the second lap ending his night. Ricky Arms was on the charge as he tried to work over Cole Fallow for the fifth spot. The top five Lucas Lee had going would come to an end as he slowed bringing out the caution. The green wouldn’t be out long as we’d get another caution this time for the #99 of Ryan Rackley who went for a wild spin off the exit of turn two. Harris had worked over the #4 of Lee and the 2021 Area 51 winner would make his move taking over the lead on lap 8 but Lee would take the lead right back the very next lap. Stricker had clearly found something as his #68 had pulled up on the battle for the lead. The caution would wave for the #33 of Jimmy Sears and the #26 of Andy Ogle who went for a spin. 27 laps in and the leaders had found themselves tangled up with lappers and on lap 30 Stricker made his move taking the lead. Lee, who had dominated earlier began to slip back a little to the third spot. Stricker would inch away in the second half to pick up his first Area 51 win.

The Front Wheel Drive division was up next for another 20-lap feature. Nathan Adams and last year’s track Champion James Burnett would lead us to green. Burnett would have mechanical issues and slow in the opening laps ending his night shy of the finish. With Burnette off track, that gave Nathan Adams a huge lead over the now second place running Jeremy Wyatt. It was a great battle behind the top two between

Amelia McClain, Justin McClain and the #46 of Cody Rector. They fought hard for position as the #93 of Adams had now pulled out to about a half track lead. Adams would put it on cruise control out front to pick up his first win of the year at the 4-1-1.

The final event of the night would be the 20 lap 602 Late Model feature. Booger Brooks has absolutely dominated the division in 2022 so it was of little surprise when he earned the pole earlier in qualifying. Brooks would take the lead on the start ahead of Curtis Thomas and Devin Cardwell. Trouble for the #9 of Dustin Bunch who went for a spin in turn two bringing out the caution. Back under green and Thomas had some issues as his #5 got loose in turn two giving up several positions in the process. Michael Courtney had mechanical issues in qualifying and had to start on the tail end of the feature. That didn’t stop him as he was charging fast up through the pack. Brooks had run off to a huge lead but the battle was on for the second spot as Courtney had driven from last to now fighting for second. It was an easy day at the office for Booger Brooks however as he picked up another win.
