Ballenger, King, Palmer, Carey, Henry, Adams visit victory lane at 411 Motor Speedway

SEYMOUR, Tenn. (July 20, 2019) — With temperatures around East Tennessee in the 90s and heat index hovering right at the triple-digit mark, the racing action was heated Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway with an exciting six division racing program entertaining the good crowd gathered at Tennessee’s Action Track.

Rusty Ballenger of Seymour captured the Crate Late Model victory, while Ryan King also from Seymour recorded the Sportsman Late Model win, with 67-year-old Billy Palmer of Knoxville bringing home the Open Wheel Modified victory.

Will Carey of Knoxville recorded the Classic win, with Shawn Henry of Newport getting the Street Stock victory, and Nathan Adams of Crossville won the Front Wheel Drive feature.

Jesse Lowe entered the night holding a 12-point lead over Rusty Ballenger in the Crate Late Model division. Lowe has six feature wins on the season while Ballenger had yet to visit victory lane.

At drop of the green flag Ballenger, Trevor Sise, Lowe, Matt Henderson, Zach Sise, Layne Clifton and Michael Courtney battled for real estate. While challenging trying to overtake both Trevor Sise and Ballenger up front late in the race, Lowe spun to bring the caution out and set the stage for a shootout to the checkered flag.

Back under green Ballenger came out firing and held Trevor Sise and Henderson off for the win, with Zach Sise and Clifton rounding out the top five at the finish.

Ryan King had won the Steel Head Late Model “Spring Shootout” back in May and the Topless Outlaws Dirt Late Model Series event last month driving his own Warrior Race Car, but tonight he strapped in behind the wheel of the car usually chauffeured by Kip Sawyer to compete in the Sportsman Late Model division. And, the results for King proved to be the same – another trip to victory lane. King jumped out to the early lead and led all 20 laps in winning over Brandon Miller, Clyde Stanton, Adam Mitchell and Jed Emert.

Veteran racer Billy Palmer has competed at tracks all around East Tennessee over the years, winning his share of races along the way. Palmer entered the night’s racing second in Open Wheel Modified points behind Jimmy Dalton. Palmer grabbed the lead at the start and never looked back en route to capturing his first win of the season by narrowly holding off the hard-charging Ricky Tinch on the final lap, with Matthew Hopper, Dalton and Amos Bunch rounding out the top five finishers.

Will Carey had consistently finished top five throughout the season in the Classic division and was sitting second in points, but had yet to earn his first win with Lee Merritt dominating with six victories. Carey was a man on a mission, determined to park in victory lane and he would not be denied as he beat Merritt. Finishing third through fifth, respectively, were Tim Bounds, Luke Ellis and Patrick Evans.

Nathan Adams held off Tracy Cagle for his fourth Front Wheel Drive victory this season, with Chris Holley, Dustin Duncan and Chris Lowe rounding out the top five finishers.

Shawn Henry outran Brandon Johnson, Jonathan Sims, Steve Owens and Dakota Sheppard to record his second Street Stock feature win on the season.
