Neely gets first win

With the 2018 season winding down at Tennessee’s Action Track, there was still more racing to do as the annual Trunk Or Treat race took place.
Lee Merritt received his trophy for winning the season Championship earlier in the day and started on pole for the Classic Car feature. Merritt would take the lead on the start with Tony Trent, Shaun Sise, Chris Worsham and Chris Nix hot on his heels. Sise and Worsham had a great battle early in the race for the third spot. Merritt didn’t have any breathing room as Trent had his #501 hooked up on the low side trying to get his nose under the leader. Seven laps in and Rusty Welch would tag the front stretch wall bringing out the caution and putting an end to his night. Back under green and Will Carey who didn’t have a great starting spot was on the move as he took a spot away working his way up near the top five. Lee Merritt would hold off Trent to pick up another win in his incredible season.

Hux took command on the start with his teammate Wayne Rader, Robbie Buchanan, Rocky Ogle and Lance Creasman rounding out the top five. David Clark started in the rear of the field but quickly began picking up spots as the early laps ticked away. Trouble for the second place car of Rader who slowed with mechanical problems and pulled off track. That would give Buchanan the runner up spot until he to had to retire early with a flat rear tire on his #P21 machine. The Sportsman feature on this night wouldn’t go so well for him on the start as he and Chris Coffey tangled on the very first lap of the feature. After a lengthy cleanup the race would go green again with Zach Sise out front ahead of DJ Shannon. Shannon looked to have a strong car but slowed in the early laps with problems. Seagle had some left side damage on his #31 but it didn’t seem to have effected him as he picked his way up into the top five. Clyde Stanton picked up the win last weekend at Volunteer but he would also have problems coming to a stop on the track and bringing out the yellow. Terry Poore had a great qualifying lap but slipped back early. The action was intense as Sise, King and Jesse Lowe went three wide down the backstretch putting on a thrilling show for the fans. Lowe would eventually get by Sise taking over the spot. Trouble for the rookie Eli Beets as the 14 year old slowed bringing out the caution on lap 21. On the restart Chase King made his move taking over the third spot. Sise had slipped back early on but was charging back to the front in the second half. The newly crowned Crate Champion Josh Henry slowed on the back bringing out another caution and ending his night. Shon Flanary began his charge as he moved himself into the fourth spot with his eyes set on the leaders until he got into an accident with Smith bringing out the caution.
