Martin, Cardwell, Harlow Among Fall Brawl Winners

It was the annual Breast Cancer Awareness night at the 4-1-1 with a stacked eight classes on hand. 
 
The 20 lap Classic Car feature was up first. Shaun Sise and Logan Dukes would lead us to green ahead of former Track Champion Lee Merritt, Chris Griffin and Mac Lockhart. Michael Millsap had was working on a top five run early on as he worked over Griffin for position. The top three put on a great battle as they fought it out for the lead in the opening laps. Dukes would eventually take control of the lead leaving Sise to battle with Merritt for the runner up spot. The caution would wave for the #59 of Phil Blackford who made hard contact with the turn two wall ending his day early. Eli Keck would throw his name in the mix later in the race for a top five as he battled with Griffin and Lockhart. The top three began to pull away but turn two was rough as it caught the #58 of Bryson Phillips ending his day as well. Dukes would hold on to pick up the win.

Greg Martin and Heath Alvey would lead us to green for the 604 Late Model feature. Martin would put his #24 out front with Alvey, Terry Poore, Anthony White Jr and Rusty Ballenger in chase. Zach Sise didn’t have a great qualifying effort but was on the go as he started working over White Jr for a top five. Jason Cardwell picked up a big win two races ago and was looking for another strong run as he moved past White Jr into the top five. The battle of the race was defiantly between Sise and Cardwell as they raced hard for the fourth position just behind Terry Poore. Trouble for the #36 of Chris Rickett who slowed on lap 18 ending his day short of the finish. Alvey would make a late charge for the lead but Martin would hold him off to pick up the win.

Fresh off a win last time out, Peyton Harlow would start on the pole for the 20 lap Open Wheel feature. The green waved and Harlow set sail with Jamie Mosley, Brandon Kinzer, Jeff Hamby and Amos Bunch your top five. Kinzer quickly turned the heat up on Mosley for the runner up spot in the opening laps. Scott Shelton was cutting through the field as he worked his way up from a mid pack starting position towards the top five. Former track Champion Wayne James was having engine issues as he tried to work his way up from the rear. It wouldn’t get any better as the Newport driver would have a broken left front wheel later in the race forcing him to retire. The leaders were setting a blistering pace finding themselves in lap traffic on lap 13. Up front it was all Peyton Harlow who picked up his second straight win.

 The Dwarf cars were making their debut at the 4-1-1 in 2022 and did so in impressive fashion. The #20 of Jonathan Allen set fast time earlier in the day and took control on the start with Open Wheel regular Matthew Hopper, Ty Bowman and Cody Norris in chase. Allen looked to have the race under control but would loop his machine in turn two sending himself to the rear for the restart. Back under green and the top three began to inch away from the pack. Allen was now on a mission to get back to the front as he quickly cut his way through the field. The caution would wave again as the #72 of Wayne Bray and the #315 of Jermiah Byrge would slow the pace. Allen had now worked his way from the rear after his spin back into the top five before the halfway point. Ty Bowman had now ate into the lead Hopper had built up as he worked the inside line trying to get the top spot. Hopper would score the win holding off Bowman and Allen.

Addison Cardwell and Jed Emert would lead us to green for the 20 lap Sportsman feature. Cardwell put his #25 on top of the scoreboard with Emert, Adam Mitchell Seth Jolley and Duke Lowe in pursuit. The top four put on a great battle in the opening laps with Mitchell trying to get the second spot from Emert and hold off Jolley in the process. The caution would wave on lap nine as the #15 of Bryan Cooper would tag the infield tractor tire going into turn one. It was a tough night for the #55 of Bryan McDaniel as he would bring out two cautions. The top two began to inch away but the fight for third was still going strong between Adam Mitchell and Seth Jolley. Cardwell would hold off Emert to pick up another win in his impressive 2022 campaign.

Nathan Adams would show the way on the start of the 20 lap Front Wheel Drive feature. Adams, Jeremy Wyatt, and Bradley Owens your top runners on the start. Owens would get a little high on the exit of turn two giving up a spot to the #28 of Robert Gravity. The night would come to an early in for several as the #51 of Savanna Merriman the #57 of Rowdy Long and the #8 of Marvin Saul all pulled off track early. The battle for third was one to watch with Nick Adams and Robert Gravity fighting it out. Just 12 laps in and Adams had built up a huge lead out front picking his way through the slower traffic. The strong top three run Owens had at the start came to an end as he pulled off the racing surface in the second half of the feature. Wyatt had now chased down the leader as we closed in on the finish. He’d use the low line to take a look inside several times but would have to settle for second as Adams would hold him off and get the win.

The Mod Mini’s were making their return to the 4-1-1 after a long absence. The front row would consist of Shane Bullock and Jeremy Davis. Bullock would take control of the large field followed by Davis, Ricky Harmon, Lane Back and Kurt Owens. Bullock quickly began to pull away from the pack in the opening laps. The #19 of Back had a solid starting spot but would slip back as the race continued. A thick trail of smoke from the #18 of James Bridenbaker that would eventually end his night. Owens had moved up to third but would get loose and made contact with another car on the exit of turn two cutting down his left front tire. Bullock had it set on cruise control out front and picked up the win.

The 602 Late Models were up next for another 20 lap feature. The #71 of Nick Miley and the #5 of Curtis Thomas would lead us to green. Miley would take the lead on the start with Thomas, Addison Cardwell and Devin Cardwell in chase. The top two seemed to have hit the setup best as they inched away from the fight for third between Cardwell and Reed Hatchett. Addison Cardwell wouldn’t be done as he began to work on Thomas for the runner up spot as the laps ticked away. Miley would hold on to pick up the win over Thomas and Cardwell your top three.
