Jason Cardwell Claims 604 Late Model Victory

After a long hiatus it was back to business at Tennessee’s Action Track. With threatening weather in the area, nearly 100 drivers were on hand to do battle.
The Classic Cars were up first for their 20 lap feature. Mark Sise would set fast time in hotlap/qualifying earning the pole. Over twenty cars were on hand for the strongest Classic Car field of the season. Mark Sise would take control of the stacked field with Shaun Sise in chase. The caution would wave early for a multiple car crash after the #6 of Jeff Mays would spin in turn one collecting the #44 of Ritchie Overholser, #8 of Eli Keck and the #15 of Chris Griffin amongst others. After a lengthy cleanup it was back to racing with Shaun sise putting the pressure on Mark Sise. McCarter was making his debut in the Classic cars and had a strong run going as he tried to work over bobby Mays. The caution would wave on lap #7 for the #28 of Bryson Phillips who came to a stop on track. On the restart, Shaun Sise would make his move and take over the lead moving Mark Sise back to second. Lee Merritt didn’t have the best qualifying spot but had worked his way up into the top five until he would slow with overheating issues ending his night. Shaun Sise would hold on to pick up another win.

The 604 Late Models put on a fantastic show for the fans in attendance with what was likely the race of the night. Bradley Lewelling would lead us to green ahead of Jason Cardwell, Hayden Cardwell and Addison Cardwell. The top three began to inch away from the rest of the pack in the opening laps. Jason Cardwell was all over the #10B of Lewelling as he used the lower line to Lewellings rim riding around the top. The caution would wave on lap 7 which saw the #287 of Mike Levi spin on the exit of two. Trouble for the #B00 of Josh Henry who would come to a stop with mechanical issues in turn four ending his night early. Cardwell had kept the heat on the leader as he and Lewelling would trade sliders several times off turn four swapping the lead back and fourth several times. Finally Cardwell would take control of the lead which allowed the #73 of Sise to close in for second. Sise and Lewelling would get together in turn two resulting in Sise going for a spin. The caution would be called on Lewelling who would retire for the night. Cardwell would hold off Sise to pick up the win.

The Street Stocks were up next for another 20 lap feature. Robbie Comer has been the dominator of 411 in recent races so it was no surprise when he would set fast time in qualifying. Comer would put his #42 on top on the green with David Clark, Charles Devine, Austin Byrd and the returning Greg Husky in chase. Trouble for the #12 of Mark Brady who would go for a spin in turn two slowing the pace early. Back to racing and Clark was working the low line trying to gain some traction under the leader. The laps ticked off and Comer began to inch away but the race for second was intense as Devine had reeled in Clark. The two would swap the runner up spot a couple times putting on a great show. Greg Husky was making his return to racing and had a strong top five run going as he moved himself into the fourth position. Trouble for the the #10 of Colby Long who pulled off track with mechanical issues a couple laps short of the finish. Comer would pull away to a big lead in the closing laps picking up another win.

Jed Emert would show the way in the Sportsman feature with Addison Cardwell, Adam Mitchell and Brad Seagle in his tire tracks. The top three seemed to be the class of the field as they set a blistering pace closing in on lap traffic quickly. Cardwell was working the low line with Emert running a couple grooves higher keeping the momentum. Dustin Ratliff fresh off a win last weekend at Tazewell Speedway had the heat turned up on Mitchell as he tried to wrestle the third position away. Emert looked to have the race in hand but would tangle with a lap car just five laps short of the finish. Emert would restart on the tail ending his hopes of winning. Adam Mitchell would take a couple shots inside of Cardwell in the final laps but wouldn’t be able to get past.
