Josh Harris Takes Home Area 51 Open Wheel Win

It was the Open Wheel Modifieds chance to take center stage as they battled it out in the biggest Open Wheel race in 411 Motor Speedway track history.

First up were the 602 late models for their 20-lap feature. A strong field of cars were on hand to put on a great show for the fans. The green waved and it was Adam Mitchell who would lead us on the start with David Miley, Michael Woods, Jacob Hamby, and Gary Lee in chase. The caution would wave on the first lap for the #9 of Cheatham who went for a spin in turn two. Back under green and Woods was on the move as he worked over Miley for the second spot. Woods crashed out last time at 411 but was having a great run as he powered past Miley into the lead. Gary Lee had a bit of work to do getting to the front, but he was on a mission as he moved past Hamby and David Miley into the third spot. David Kerr started at the rear of the field but was picking them off. By now Lee had made his way up to second with his sights set on the leader. Coming off turn four the two swapped paint down the front stretch with Lee taking over the top spot. He would run away in the final laps to pick up his first 411 win.

Next up was the 20 lap Street Stock feature featuring Volunteer VS Tazewell Speedway Street Stocks. Charles Devine would lead us to green ahead of Wayne Rader, Tony Trent, and Logan Cobb. John Stevens was on the go early as he fought it out with Cobb in the opening laps eventually making his way past. Out front Devine was gone but the battle was on behind him for position. A broken driveshaft would end the night for Colby Long and bring out the caution setting up a late restart. Rader had found the line his machine liked best as he closed the gap on the race leader. Devine would hold him off to pick up the win. However, he would fail post-race tech because of his engine giving the win to Wayne Rader.

A wild crash in turn two would bring us under the red flag. The #2 of Ken Bare was in the process of getting lapped as he got caught up with #12 of Marcus Mays. Bare would end up going upside down with Mays tagging the turn two wall. Both drivers would be okay but done for the night. The drama was not over as the #20 of Brad Cross and the #90 of Adams would get together sending Cross into the outside wall. He was done for the night and not very happy with Adams. The feature would end up being called early because of time constraints giving Nathan Adams the win.

The green waved and the stacked field went screaming into the first turn. Josh Harris had been the fastest man in town all day and he set sail on the start with Clayton Miller, Adam Stricker, Blake Brown, and Victor Lee giving pursuit. Trouble for the #327 of Ricky Tinch would end his night as he pulled off track in the opening laps. A wild crash on the front stretch would bring us to the red flag. The #2 of Shawn Martin would end up on his side on top of the #11 of Jesse Rupe. Also involved with the #155 of Peyton Harlow and the #8 of Austin Holcombe. After a lengthy cleanup it was back to racing with an incredible battle for the lead between the #22 of Harris and the #68 of Stricker They were throwing haymakers at one another basically the entire race. The #4 of Ricky Arms had reeled them in but slowed with a flat on his machine. It was a thrilling fight for the win as they swapped the lead multiple times and never touched once. In the end Harris would be able to pick his way through the slower traffic slightly better and hold on to pick up the huge win.
