Jimmy Owens Dominates Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series At 411

It was back to action at Tennessee’s Action Track with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series rolling into town for a huge $12,000 to win feature.

“The Newport Nightmare” Jimmy Owens is having a career season and he kept the momentum going earning the pole for the 50 lap feature. The green waved and the stacked field went screaming into turn one with Owens putting his #20 into the lead. Jonathan Davenport, Donald McIntosh, Shane Clanton and Shanon Buckingham made up your top five. Cory Hedgecock one of the hottest drivers at 411 showed why he is one of the favorites as he picked up spots on the start moving by Buckingham into the top five. Out front Owens had already rocketed out to a huge lead. Trouble for the #40 of Kyle Bronson who went for a wild spin into the infield ending his night early along with David Crabtree who pulled off under caution. Back under green and it was on for the third spot as McIntosh and Clanton put on a thrilling battle for position. Brandon Overton didn’t have the best qualifying lot but he was on a mission as he picked them up one after the other driving to the front. Overton would get into the runner up spot until he got tangled up with the slower car of Kyle Hardy. Overton would have front end damage ending his bid for the win. One final restart would give Cory Hedgecock a shot at the leader but it wasn’t meant to be as Owens picked up his third straight Lucas Oil win.

The 604 Late Models were up next and it was a family affair. Brothers Trevor Sise and Zach Sise would lead us to green for the 25 lap feature event. The older Sise would take the lead on the start with Zach Sise, Rusty Ballenger, Cameron Weaver and Josh Henry giving chase. As the top two inched away in the early laps the race was on for third on back. Josh Henry had the pressure turned up on Weaver for position. Jensen Ford had his work cut out for him to get to the lead. He was in pursuit of Henry and Weaver as they battled infront of him. The caution would wave for the #32 of John Blankenship who went for a spin in turn two slowing the pace. Back under green and Henry was on the move as he put himself into the fourth spot. Trevor Sise was setting a blistering pace out front and found himself catching slower cars. The caution would wave late for the #29 of Dereck Blair who spin in turn two. Trevor Sise would hold off his younger brother to pick up the win.

The 602 Late Models were up next. David Miley already has a win this season and he would set fast time on the night. Chaos would show it’s ugly head as a multiple car crash on the first lap involving Bobby Elkins, Dillon Peterman, Michael Courtney Lee Branch and Michael Woods would bring out the caution. After a lengthy cleanup it was back to racing with your top five on the start being Miley, Josh Driskill, Spencer Singleton, Lee Branch and Jeremy Broome. More trouble for Branch as he would go for a spin in turn two collecting the #66 of Woods. Both drivers would end up being one for the night with front end damage. Adam Mitchell and Caleb Ashby would have a great battle for position just outside the top five. Driskill had closed in on the race leader but mechanical problems would end his night early. David Miley would go on to pick up his second win of the season.

The final race of the night would be the 20 lap Classic Car feature. Lee Merritt would lead us to green ahead of Will Carey, Adam Engel, Chris Mickenney and Josh Chesney. The caution would wave early for the #XXX of Chesney who went for a spin in turn four. The classic guys always put on a great show and tonight was no different. Steven Sise started in the rear of the pack because of a driver change so he had to charge his way to the front of the pack. The top three pulled away from the rest of the field who battled it out for positions. Engel seemed to have a long run car as he moved past Carey into the second spot in the later laps. He would get a few looks under Merritt as the final laps ticked off but wouldn’t be able to get by.
