Lowe, Stanton, Bunch, Clark, Merritt, Kerr, Duncan visit victory lane at 411 Motor Speedway

SEYMOUR, Tenn. (April 13, 2019) — 411 Motor Speedway held another action-packed night of racing Saturday, with Jesse Lowe of Crossville capturing the Crate Late Model victory, while Clyde Stanton of Knoxville recorded the Sportsman Late Model win, with Amos Bunch of Wartburg bringing home the Open Wheel Modified victory.

David Clark of Tazewell captured the Modified Street victory, while Lee Merritt of Knoxville recorded the Classic win. David Kerr of Maryville got the Street Stock victory, and Jake Duncan of Oneida won the Front Wheel Drive feature.

Jesse Lowe is definitely off to a hot start on the racing season, having already won three Crate Late Model features at “Tennessee’s Action Track.” Lowe was fastest in qualifying at 14.440 seconds, but it was Ballenger jumping out into the lead at start of the 25-lap feature. There was good racing among the top five of Ballenger, Lowe, Jordon Horton, Trevor Sise and Matt Tharp. Ballenger and Lowe began to distance themselves from their closest challengers halfway through the race. … Ballenger looked like he was headed to victory lane, but Lowe got up on the wheel on the final lap racing off (turn) two to pull alongside of Ballenger. Lowe took the lead between turns three and four and went on to capture his division-leading fourth win over Ballenger, Horton, Sise and Tharp.

Clyde Stanton earned the Sportsman Late Model pole with a fast-time at 14.825 seconds, and on the start he grabbed the lead over David Miley and Brad Seagle. The action among the trio was intense, with Miley briefly wrestling the lead from Stanton before he would ultimately drop out of the race only three laps from the finish. Seagle stepped right into contention to challenge for the win, and on the white flag lap he and Stanton raced into the third turn side-by-side. Racing off the fourth turn Seagle almost spun, and the “Mule Hollow Missle” Stanton fired to his second victory of the season. Finishing behind winner Stanton were Brad Dyer, Seagle, Adam Mitchell and Quincy Adams.

Pole-sitter Amos Bunch, Billy Palmer, Jeff Hamby, Ricky Tinch, Wayne James and Jimmy Dalton battled for position during the early laps of the Open Wheel Modified feature. But the trio of Palmer, Hamby and James each had trouble and dropped out. However, there would be no denying Bunch his first win on the season as he led Dalton, Tinch, Andy Standridge and John Nicholson at the finish.

Michael Woods had visited victory lane on two occasions this season in Modified Street action, but David Clark was determined to get his first win. Clark jumped out to the lead at the start and remained there throughout the 20-lap feature to capture the victory over Clark, Dustin Rattliff, Brady Lee and Bobbie Petty.

Defending Classic track champion Lee Merritt had to start from sixth due to having won three straight races to open the season, and following another impressive winning performance he might be forced to take the green flag next Saturday from down on the Chapman Highway. Merritt passed Adam Engel to take the lead on lap 6 racing off the second corner and cruised to his fourth straight victory over Engel, Shaun Sise, Eli Keck and Richie Overholser.

Shawn Henry grabbed the lead at start of the Street Stock feature, but David Kerr was running out front when the checkered flag waved to record the win over Henry, Steve Owens and Brandon Johnson.

Jake Duncan outran Marvin Green, Wesley Teffeteller, Daniel Coggins and Dustin Duncan for the Front Wheel Drive win.
