RACE NIGHT RECAP
|
||
Mother Nature is working hard to spoil our shows, but she isn’t succeeding. A sure rain-out translated into a bad fast track that saw the track record get shattered by Billy Ogle Jr as he lowered the fastest lap down to a 13.092. In feature action, Logan Dukes made his return to the Classic division at 411 Motor Speedway as he cruised to the win. In NeSmith Crates, Adam Beeler blasted to the victory. In Mini Stock, ole Cole Trickle, I mean Rocky McNabb, picked up the win. In Thunder & Lightning, well the top 2 ran away with it, as Robbie Comer took the win. Oh, 3rd place finisher Barry Duncan was 2 laps down while 2nd place finisher Warren McMahan wasn’t far behind Comer. And in Super Late Model action, it was a front row of “The Kid” and “Mac-Daddy”, but it was Dale McDowell who blasted to victory lane. Coming up next Saturday August 18th is another regular racing program. Classes in action will be the Limited Late Model, NeSmith Crate Late Model, Thunder & Lightning, Street Stock, Mini Stock, Topless Modified, and Modified Mini.
==================================================================
Classic Green flag back in the air, Tim Sands and Dukes side by side once again, Tim Sands still can’t get going, Dukes with the lead off 2, Robbie Sands in 2nd, Russell in 3rd with Childress on his heels, now Cameron Skinner dives inside Childress off 2, side by side in to 3, off 4 they make contact, now looks like things may have settled down there as Dukes feels the pressure from Robbie Sands for the race lead. Russell in 3rd trying to hold off the challenge as Mark Mincey tries to hold off Bobby Pressley. Skinner now to the rear bumper of Russell, as Robbie Sands continues to stalk Dukes for the race lead. Now Mincey gives the spot up to Pressley, sounds like Mincey has a plug wire off as it sounds rough, now he gives up the spot to Tim Sands. Skinner now making contact with Russell off turn 2, falls in line, now into turn 1 he makes more contact, off 4 he falls back in line. Dukes in command here at halfway, but now Robbie Sands pulls inside off 4, falls back in line into 1. Russell maintains the 3rd spot as Skinner looks for a way around him, now gets a run, peeks inside off 4, falls back in line and again off 2 he looks inside Russell, and again falls in line. Dukes still showing the way as Robbie is ready for a mistake, but Dukes so far as been flawless. Robbie still looking for a way around, he’ll have some lap traffic just ahead, now Robbie Sands gets a run off 2, looks inside into 3, falls in line off 4 with 3 laps remaining now. Now Dukes makes contact with Pressley as he’s putting a lap on him, that opens the door for Robbie Sands as the white flag flies. Robbie Sands off turn 2 didn’t get off the corner too well, tries to look inside, but nothing doing, Dukes takes the win, Robbie Sands in 2nd and 3rd goes to Russell. Cautions: 1

SRRS Super Late Model Green flag back in the air, McDowell your leader, but behind him it’s 2 by 2 all the way through! Ogle Jr quickly powers off turn 2 with the 2nd spot as Miller is in 3rd, Hickman 4th with Vic Hill just behind him. David Crabtree inside Dingus Griffin for the spot off 4, Ty Dillon inside Tommy Kerr off 2 for that spot. Up front, McDowell showing the way, then you have Ogle Jr closing in on his rear spoiler, as Chad Ogle now looks inside Skyler Marlar into 3. Up front, McDowell in heavy lap traffic, Ogle Jr. in the 2nd spot waiting for his chance to pounce, still a long way to go in this one. A conveyor belt of cars all the way around the track, Ogle Jr trying to reel in McDowell for the lead, slides up off turn 2 and loses some ground. Miller in the 3rd spot with Hickman and Hill just behind them. Dillon makes contact with Griffin as Kerr now powers to his inside. Ronnie Johnson now inside Dillon and they make contact, that opens the flood gates as Ogle powers around him, and Marlar looks to make a run for the position as well. McDowell still showing the way, Ogle Jr slipping back into the clutches of Miller as lap traffic is all over the track for these competitors. Miller now closing in on Ogle Jr, looks inside off 4, falls in line off 2. Now halfway in this one, McDowell still leading the way as Hickman gets up on 2 wheels into 1, Hill has made his move around him and chases down Miller off 2. McDowell setting a blistering pace here. Action all over the track, what do you want to cover, it’s your choice. David Crabtree now powers inside Henry, as he chases Hickman into 3. Josh Putnam with a bobble off 2, he’ll give up the spot to Michael Chilton. Now McDowell looking for room around Putnam, that allows Ogle Jr and Miller to close in, now Miller challenges Ogle Jr for the position, Ogle Jr squeezes him down low, drives away with the 2nd spot. McDowell has regrouped and pulled away, long green flag run here, as there’s 10 laps remaining. Hill now looking for room around Miller, pulls inside off 2, as Johnson has made his way around Kerr, as well as Crabtree, now pulls inside the lap car of Greg Martin into turn 3, but he’s got a lot of driving to do to close in on Griffin. Kerr now in a 3-wide battle with Crabtree and Ogle, they all make contact, now Kerr makes it around Crabtree, Ogle also, but it’s still all McDowell. McDowell now with heavy, heavy lap traffic as he closes in on teammate Dillon, they make contact off 4, and McDowell makes the pass off 2. Checkers in the air, Dale McDowell picks up the win, Billy in 2nd 3rd goes to Miller, 4th goes to Hickman. Cautions: 1 |
