RACE NIGHT RECAP
Another great night of racing is in the books despite a light shower that passed over the speedway, but that surely didn’t slow us down any! In Topless Modified, Johnny Ridings was setting sail to victory lane when his engine would detonate early. He would lead the first 16 laps before he would exit the speedway, handing the win to Marvin Romines. In NeSmith Crate Late Model, Adam Beeler powered to the winners circle. Next on the speedway was the Southern Regional Racing Series Super Late Models. Ray Cook shattered the previous track record by laying down a lap of 13.540. The Tarheel Tiger would rip his claws into the competition en-route to Ujunkdit.com Victory Lane. In Mini Stock, Keith Sands held off Cole Trickle (Rocky McNabb) to claim the win, and to finish out the night, Travis Reno cruised to victory lane for his 4th win of the season. Join us this Saturday night for another great night of racing, featuring the Limited Late Model, Thunder & Lightning, Street Stock, Topless Modified, and Classic divisions!
=============================================
Topless Modified Green flag back in the air, Ridings maintains the race lead. Lightning flashes off turn 3 as weather appears to be moving in. Ridings still riding in the race lead, clicks off lap 15. William Hux now with a vicious looking crash in turn 3, looks like he is ok but half of his car is on top of the wall. Caution here on lap 16. Ridings gets checked out on this caution, and unfortunately his night will be complete. Green flag in the air, Romines the new leader, Dave Lewis in 2nd, Evans in 3rd, with Kevin Lewis on his inside, falls in line off 4. Checkers in the air, Romines gets the win, Dave Lewis comes home 2nd and Evans gets 3rd. Cautions: 2 Beeler hard on the gas into turn 1, King trying to chase him down, Cobb trying to hold off Hedgecock for the 3rd spot, now Welshan climbs up top in turn 3, slows, looking for a way off the track it seems, may have a flat tire, Hensley almost spins after running into him off 2, and rolls into the infield and caution flies here on lap 9. Welshan will be charged with the caution. Green flag back in the air, King jumps to his inside quickly, but Beeler with the power off 2 maintains the lead. King in 2nd, Hedgecock inside Cobb for the 3rd spot, Stanton inside Sise for position off 4, now Calloway looks back inside Stanton off turn 2. Beeler out front, King in 2nd, Cobb in 3rd. King gets sideways up high in 4, almost brushes the wall, but he’ll continue on. Calloway still inside Stanton trying to steal the position once again. Now off turn 2, Sise will spin here on lap 15. Green flag back in the air one more time, Beeler again gets the jump off 2, King hot on his heels, looks inside into 3, falls in line off 4. Cobb in 3rd, Hedgecock riding in 4th, as Sise looks inside Stanton off 4, completes the pass into turn 3. Hedgecock trying to make a run around Cobb, now King brushes the wall in turn 4. Cobb dives inside in 1, side by side off 2. Cobb down low, falls in line, Beeler gets the win, King takes 2nd, and 3rd goes to Cobb. Cautions: 3 Green flag back in the air one more time as raindrops are falling, Cook holding off Ogle Jr but now Franklin has spun again in turn 2. Green flag back in the air, Cook powers on the gas off turn 4. Weather holding off so far for the moment, but now Randy Todd spins in turn 1. Green flag back in the air, Cook powers off turn 2 with about 2 car length lead. Ogle Jr in 2nd, Putnam trying to hang tough as Kerr looks to his inside, but here comes Marlar, he powers inside Jeff Watson off 2, completes it off 4, but now Mark Vineyard spins in turn 2, collects Justin Ratliff in turn 2. Green flag back in the air, but just like that, Heath Alvey spins in turn 4. Looks like a couple cars got bottled up waiting for the flagman to drop the green flag and Alvey was the lone driver to get the boot. Green flag back in the air, Cook hard on the gas off turn 4, Ogle Jr in tow. Ogle Jr drops low in 3, falls in line off 4. Weaver looking inside Aaron Ridley, snatches that spot into turn 3. Now caution flies here on lap 14 as White spins in turn 4, collects Todd. Todd continues on, White pulls off. Green flag back in the air, Cook powers off 2 with the lead. Ogle Jr dives inside off turn 4, pulls away into 1. Cook your leader, Ogle Jr in 2nd, Putnam 3rd, Kerr in 5th, with Weaver 5th. Riley Hickman looking inside Ridley as he chases Marlar. Now Hickman spins in turn 2, collects Ridley, Chad Ogle, and Ronnie Johnson as all cars should be able to continue. A light shower is over the speedway, but the drivers give a thumbs up, so we’re going green! Cook hard on the gas off turn 2, Ogle Jr to his inside for a second. Kerr inside Putnam off turn 34, slides up in turn 1, Putnam now trying to hold off Weaver, Weaver drops to the bottom, now Marlar joins the fray. Hickman gets sideways off turn 4, dodges the barrel on the frontstretch. Cook your leader, lap traffic just ahead of his windshield bars, Ogle Jr about 8 car lengths behind him. Cook in heavy lap traffic now, they give way and he’ll work his way through it as he continues to open the lead up over Ogle Jr. Cook with a little more easy sailing as he’s opened up the advantage over Ogle. Marlar now makes his way around Kerr, but he’s got a long way to go to catch up with Ogle Jr. Cook still working through lap traffic, now 3 laps remaining. The Tarheel Tiger the leader now with 2 laps to go as caution flies as Jason Manley loses fluid into turn 3. Caution here on lap 38. Green flag back in the air as Ogle Jr was asleep on that restart. Cook powers away with the lead, and off turn 4 caution flies as the lineup wasn‘t correct. Green flag back in the air one more time, much better start this time. Ogle Jr hangs tough, off 4, white flag for Cook. Putnam goes way low in turn 1 to try to sneak past Marlar, but Cook takes the win, Ogle Jr in 2nd, Marlar 3rd, 4th is Putnam, with Weaver in 5th. Cautions: 9 Green flag back in the air, Keith Sands powers on the throttle but now Tickle hangs tough. Trickle dives into 3 on the inside, falls in line. Tries again down low, bobbles his machine and he falls to about 4 car lengths off Keith Sands now for the lead. Clifford Sands spins in turn 4, caution on lap 15. Green flag back in the air, Tickle wanted that caution to close back up, and now he’s looking inside for a moment, falls back in line. Trickle powers inside in turn 3 here with the white flag in the air. Trickle with a run down into turn 3, dives inside, side by side off turn 4, but Keith Sands takes the win over Trickle, Tim West, and Clifford Sands will round out the field. Cautions: 2 Green flag back in the air, Reno powers inside in turn 3, can’t make it happen this time by. Watson trying to hang tough, Reno though powers away . Now McDaniel pulls off in turn 2, so then there were 2. Checkers in the air, Reno with the win, Watson comes home in 2nd. Cautions: 1 |
