Ricky Weiss Scores J.T. Kerr Memorial Win

It was back to business at Tennessee’s action track with the annual JT Kerr Memorial paying $10,000 to the winner.

The 20 lap Sportsman feature would be up first. Jake Whitehead put his #116 on pole in qualifying alongside Terry Poore. Poore would get the jump on the start taking the lead ahead of Whitehead, Zach Sise, Adam Mitchell and Reed Hatchett. The battle was on quickly between Sise and Mitchell as they duked it out for the third spot. The top two began to inch away from the field as the early laps ticked away. The caution would wave for the #40 of Hunter Kerr who went for a spin on lap 8. Another caution on the restart would slow the pace again as Kerr, and Sam Green tangled in turn two. Sise had found something in his #15 as he powered by Whitehead and into the runner up spot. Poore would hold on to score his second win in two weeks in the Sportsman division.

Greg Husky would power into the runner up spot behind Comer who had began to inch away. It was a tight battle between the #10 of Long and the #1 of Cody Satterfield for the third spot. The 71 lap JT Kerr Memorial was up next paying a huge $10,000 to the winner. Jason Welshan looked like the man to beat as his #01 was fastest in qualifying and won his heat earlier in the day. Welshan would take control of the stacked field on the start with Hayden Cardwell, Chase King and Tyler Millwood. Cory Hedgecock came into the night as the five-time Champion as he would shockingly pull of track just eleven laps into the feature. Trouble would find the #155 of Bubba Rolling and the #24 of Greg Martin as the two would tangle in turn two. After a lengthy cleanup, it was back to racing with the #D8 of Dustin Linville who worked his way into the fourth spot. The leaders found themselves in slower traffic as Cardwell had began to eat into the lead Welshan had built up. Cardwell would make his move on lap 31 powering by Welshan and taking the top spot. The caution would wave again on lap 42. Ricky Weiss didn’t have the best start but was picking his way up through the field and had moved past Welshan into second. Weiss would catch Cardwell in lap traffic and power into the lead with just nine laps left until a caution slowed the pace. Cardwell would dive low inside Weiss on the restart sending both drivers spinning. Cardwell would be done for the night but Weiss would continue on with the lead. He’d pull away the final handful of laps and score back to back $10,000 wins on the weekend.

Bryan Barber would lead us to green for the 20 lap Open Wheel feature with Jesse Rupe, former Champion Jimmy Dalton, and David Clark your top runners on the start. Clark would turn up the heat on Dalton as they battled it out for the third spot. Trouble for the #91 of Coty Adams who went for a spin in turn two. Clark would make his move getting past Dalton. Tyler James would retire early for pulling off short of the finish. Clark would reel in Rupe for the second spot but it would all be well behind Barber who cruised to the win.

Britton Roxberry would lead the Front Wheel Drive into turn one with James Burnette and Nathan Adams giving chase. It was an excellent battle for the lead with Burnette working the low line. Trouble would find Burnette as he’d slow on track and pull of track with mechanical problems. On the restart the top five would put some distance on the rest of the pack.
