The #5 in the old pictures of '08 is driven by Charlie Rogers of Knoxville.
I talked to Charlie in January about the picture and he said Lightin' Browning
drove the #05 which was a yellow 37 Chevy 2 door sedan. Charlie said
"Lightin' wore glasses but wouldn't wear them when he raced". He said "since
Lightin' couldn't see, that he would not let him drive the #5".
The green #2 of Wayne Fielden was built and maintained by my cousin Ralph
"Red" McMillan. That car met it's end at Ashway Speedway when it went
straight into the wall.
These pictures were taken in 1968.
The Debbie Perry picture of Wayne Fielden is of one of the "Broadway" cars.
Named because it ran at the old Broadway Speedway the was in Halls back in
the fifties. That car along with 3 others from Wayne's place were hauled off to
the scrap yard in 1996 after his death. I however was able the take two other
cars home with me. One of which you have a picture of.
