Rusty Ballenger cruises to NeSmith win as David Miley captures first Sportsman win

Seymour, TN – Another beautiful afternoon graced the 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday afternoon, where the night got kicked off with NeSmith Qualifying. Adam Beeler would eclipse the previous fastest time with his blistering lap of 14.065. Rusty Ballenger was not far behind as the 2nd place qualifier, who turned in a lap of 14.076. Next was Sportsman, where David Miley would take fast qualifier honors and start on the pole for the Sportsman feature with his lap of 14.514 which was good enough to earn him the Sportsman division qualifying record. When feature time rolled around, Thunder & Lightning was first, where Chase King took win #5 on the season. Sportsman was next, where we saw a record 11 cautions and the feature shortened because of time to 20 laps. Jordon Horton took the win, but was light on the scales, handing the win over to David Miley. Next was Street Stock, where Chris Rickett took win #2 and 2 in a row. Nick Perry took win #3 in Mini Stock, and capping off the night was Rusty Ballenger, also collecting win #3.

Kids night a huge and fun success on Saturday night

Seymour, TN – The first kids night of the 2014 season was chalked up as a huge success on Saturday Night. More than 50 kids came down onto the front straightaway to participate in foot and bike races, as well as a coin toss. There was also a tire roll contest with several of our NeSmith Late Model drivers agreeing to participate. In that race, Ryan King almost took a tumble as his tire went careening into the infield. After the dust settled and the banging took place, it was Chad Beeler taking the tire roll win. Feature racing was up next with Sportsman being the first feature. Terry Poore would take the checkered flag, but 2nd-place finisher Kip Sawyer lodged a complete teardown protest against Poore. Poore would refuse to tear down, so Sawyer was named the winner. Mini Stock was next, where Jason Gregory picked up the win. Gary Blanken took the win in Street Stock, and Rusty Ballenger held off Ryan King for the NeSmith win.

Join us this Saturday June 28th as we welcome the Limited Late Model division back to the speedway for a special $1,000-to-win feature. Also in action will be NeSmith Late Model, Sportsman, Street Stock, and Mini Stock. Admission prices will still only be $10 for adults in the grandstand, as always kids 12 & under are free with paid adult. Adult pit passes are $25 with kids 12 & under $15 with signed minor release.

The first feature on the speedway was the Mini Stock division as Rocky McNabb took the win. Next was Mod Lite as they made their first-ever trip to 411 Motor Speedway. Jackson Griffith ‘smoked’ the field. Next was Thunder & Lightning, where David Miley took the win. Next up was the USCS 600cc Sprints, where it was Chris Openshaw taking the win. Limited Late Models were up next, where Rusty Ballenger was holding off several challenges from Matt Henderson, until Henderson would drop fluid, causing an 7-car pileup in turn 1. This shook the running order up, but Ballenger held off Josh Henry to take the win after the time limit expired on lap 17. The final feature of the night was the USCS 360 Outlaw Sprints, where this feature was too cut short by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department on lap 15, where Dalton Davis would take the win.

We’re back to regular weekly points racing this Saturday May 11th. It’ll be another great night, so be sure to make your plans to enjoy the action!

Ballenger wins as sparks fly in Limited Lates; Ridings victorious in Topless

This past Saturday night was a mixed bag of excitement at Tennessee’s Action Track! 22 cars would sign into the Mini Stock division, and all 22 would start the feature. Amazingly, they would go all 20 laps caution-free with Rocky McNabb taking the win! Next was the Topless Modified division, where fireworks would fly off turn 2 on lap 17 when Eric Hux and Tim Weaver got together, ending both their nights, handing the lead to Johnny Ridings. He would hang on with two front broken shocks to take the win. Next was the Classic, where Scott Lacy would take the win. In Thunder & Lightning, Robbie Comer was showing the way — and showing smoke — until officials issued the black flag for oil, handing the lead over to David Miley. He’d cruise to the win. The next feature was the Street Stock division, where Dwayne Fox would take the checkers. The final feature of the night would prove to be a fan favorite as fireworks flew early and often, including tempers! Rusty Ballenger would set fast time with a lap of 13.892 in qualifying. Things would get off to a bumpy start as the first caution flew with Ryan King going around after slight contact from Greg Martin. King would look for a way through the field disagreeing with the call. King would be running 3rd when perhaps the most controversial caution — the 5th of the night — flew on lap 12 when Jason Cardwell would look for his way around a lap car, when Ballenger would drive deep into turn 3 and make heavy contact with Cardwell. Cardwell would retire for the night with suspension damage, and Ballenger would hit the hot pits for a tire change. This handed the lead over to King. By lap 25, the 10th caution of the night would fly when Keith Gregory would drop fluid heading up high into turn 3. King would show the way with the caution displayed, but would run into the fluid and spin out, cutting a left-rear tire when he bounced off the wall. He would again re-join the field at the rear, and blast his way up close to the front when the final caution of the night flew on lap 29. Many fans were puzzled with this caution, as Layne Clifton would show the way into turn 1 as the leader, but drove too deep and would pound the outside wall. Ballenger would take the low side but he would also go around. Many fans thought this would hand the lead over to King, but caution was thrown for Clifton, giving Ballenger a mulligan. Ballenger would hold off King over the final restart to take the win.

Coming up next week is a DOUBLE points night for the competitors! Be sure to join us for another great night of action-packed excitement under the lights at the 411 Motor Speedway! Same time, same classes, same place! See you all on Saturday!

Ridings earns first season win in Topless; King wins controversy-filled Crate feature

Another great Tuesday night of racing action is complete, and it was fast, furious, and exciting! In Topless Modified, Johnny Ridings held off valiant charges for the lead from Paul Johnson and Justin Summers to earn his first win of the season. In Limited Late Model, a record 10 cautions were thrown for several incidents and spins, with Rusty Ballenger besting a hard-charging Josh Collins. The Newport Nightmare Jimmy Owens made an appearance, powering into the race lead from the getgo, leading the first 9 laps, then pulling off and rejoining the field. He would charge back up to a 4th place finish. In Mini Stock, David Singleton was cruising to his 9th win of the season, but bad luck would strike, handing the win to Sam Burgess. Travis Reno would take the checkers in the Street Stock feature, but Warren McMahan would lodge a protest. Reno refused, and McMahan was awarded the win. Next up was the final feature of the night, with Ryan King taking the checkers in controversial fashion in the NeSmith Crate Late Models.

Next up on the schedule is another regular program, with racing excitement in the Limited Late Model, NeSmith Crate Late Model, Topless Modified, Thunder & Lightning, Street Stock, and Mini Stock!

Summers & Gregory duel in Topless; Miley finally gets a W

Another great night of racing action is in the books at Tennessee’s Action Track! First off, Adam Engel blazed to victory lane in the Classic division. Next up was Thunder & Lightning where David Miley schooled the field to claim the win despite a 19 minute red flag for a rain shower. In Mini Stock action, we saw the “Rooftop Rocket” blast off to the lead as he dodged heavy lap traffic all feature long. Travis Reno dueled with Larry Sullivan, surrendering the race lead in turn 3 on the final lap, but quickly stole it back when Sullivan couldn’t hang onto his machine and spun in 4. The next division was a barn burner where Justin Summers and Keith Gregory wore each other out and raced hard every single lap as these two were virtually side-by-side the final 9 laps, but Summers was the quickest gun in this shootout. And in Limited Late Model, Rusty Ballenger, Eric Tipton, and Josh Collins were dueling for the race lead on lap 25 until the 2012 Limited Late Model points leader Josh Collins made a rare mistake which resulted in him grinding the turn 2 wall. In the end, Rusty Ballenger claimed the checkers, and with Collins’ misfortune and Ballengers’ race win, the points lead in Limited Late Model is now tied between Collins and Ballenger!

Coming up this Saturday June 16th is another regular program but with increased purse! Limited Late Models will run for $1,000 with a $150 Fast Qualifier bonus! The Fast Qualifier will be the ONLY competitor getting locked into the show, all other drivers must run a heat race. Each heat race will pay $100 for the winner, $50 for 2nd, and $25 for 3rd, and each heat will be 8 laps instead of the usual 6. Also in action will be the Mini Stock, running for $500, Thunder & Lightning gunning for $400, Topless Modified for $400, and Classic running for $300! All divisions with the exception of Limited Late Model will run 20 laps and will earn $41 to start. See you all this Saturday!
