“Sands” takes wins in Mini Stock & Classic as Comer returns to victory lane

Another great Saturday night of action is in the books at Tennessee’s Action Track! It was a great night for racing as the weather was A+++! First onto the speedway was the Mini Stock, where Keith Sands would take the lead and never look back, scoring the win. In Topless Modified, William Hux held off the field to claim the checkers. In Classic, “Rocket” Robbie Sands blasted to the win. Thunder & Lightning was up next where Robbie Comer took the win, finally shaking the monkey off his back. In Street Stock, Dwayne Fox would take the win, and rounding out the night was the Limited Late Model, where Cory Hedgecock would set on the pole after being the fast time qualifier. He would show the way until lap 24 when he would have trouble getting around a lap car and bounced off the turn 2 wall, cutting a tire down. Jason Cardwell would find himself in the lead after the caution flew — for the 2nd time this season — cruising to the win due to the misfortune of the race leader late in the features! And this is definitely not to discredit Jason, but he’s been on the receiving end of the bad luck stick a lot the past couple years.

Join us this Saturday April 20th as we bring you another exciting night of racing action! All divisions will be racing, which consist of Mini Stock, Junior Hornet, Topless Modified, Classic, Thunder & Lightning, Street Stock, and Limited Late Model!

Lee Merritt scores first-ever win; Josh Collins leads flag-to-flag in 3rd Annual Hangover

The 3rd Annual Hangover at the 411 Motor Speedway was washed away on Tuesday January 1st, 2013, but track officials made sure there was still a “Hangover” for fans to see. The 3rd Annual Hangover took place on January 5th, and the racing was fast and furious just like it always is at 411. First on the track was the Mini Stock division, where we saw Lee Merritt notch his first career victory! In Topless Modified, it was all William Hux who led flag-to-flag. In Classic, Robbie Sands continued his dominance by claiming the win. In Thunder & Lightning, Robbie Comer would take the checkers in this 10-lap feature, which was shortened due to time after Clyde Overholt took a tumble (video can be seen at http://ustream.tv/channel/motorspeedway411 – “Features from January 5th, 2013 – Part 1” at around 49:14). Finally capping the night off was the 40-lap Limited Late Model feature where 2012 champion Josh Collins claimed the win.

In Topless Limited Late Model action, Cory Hedgecock would lead all the way to the white flag, when Matt Henderson would muscle his way past off turn 2 to claim the checkers. Hall demolishes record, leads flag-to-flag for Hangover win

The 2nd Annual Chris Breeden Memorial Hangover 100 took place on January 1st, and despite the cold weather and rain early in the afternoon, the drivers, crew, and fans still made it out to the track, and track officials worked long and hard to make sure the track was racy! The program was delayed by just over an hour due to the track being so soft, but the action was just as furious. Several drivers had difficulty negotiating the speedway, but by the time Limited Late Model Qualifying came around, several drivers got a handle on it, but nobody got as good a handle on it as Brad Hall, who laid down an untouchable lap of 13.696 which demolished the old track record of 13.926 set by David Crabtree on July 14th, 2011, and even bested Hall’s previous best time of 13.859 on an open tire back on October 7th, 2011. Hall would go on to lead flag-to-flag in the victory. Heath Alvey would claim the win in the B-Main with Rusty Ballenger making the final transfer spot. Robbie Sands claimed the win in Classic, while Brian Dinkins and Scott Atkins claimed wins in the Mini-Stock and Thunder & Lightning divisions, respectfully.

Next up on the schedule is an open practice on February 25th! The 2011 Awards Ceremony is still being planned, and final details will be released soon!
