Fireworks fly on-and-off the track in Jack Henderson Memorial 35

Seymour, TN – On a beautiful Saturday afternoon under a blanket of blue skies, we would host the Jack Henderson Memorial 35 as we honored the memory of Jack Henderson. To help us commemorate the legacy of Jack Henderson properly, we enlisted the help of a familiar face, one Ray Dedrick, to share his words. When feature time rolled around, it was Chris Rickett taking the checkers in Street Stock. Sportsman was won by David Kerr as he picked up his 2nd win this season at 411, and first in Sportsman. NeSmith was up next, where Adam Beeler was the winner in the caution-free feature. Mini Stock was next, where John Byers crossed the line first, but was protested, refused teardown, and disqualified, making Michael Courtney the winner. Capping the night off was Limited Late Model, where the pace was slowed 9 times, but in the end, Jason Welshan was your winner, with Jason Manley coming home in 2nd.

Join us this Saturday July 12th as we welcome back the Thunder & Lightning division in hopes of having a strong car count in this division. We will also host the Sportsman Summer Sizzler 25, where the Sportsman drivers will qualify and feature race in this $600-to-win, $70-to-start, 25-lap feature event. Also in action will be NeSmith Late Model, Thunder & Lightning as we mentioned, Sportsman as mentioned, as well as Street Stock and Mini Stock. Regular event pricing will apply and can be seen on the Admission Pricing page under “The 4-1-1.” All gates open at 3:00p ET, with drivers meeting at 6:00p ET and hotlaps 6:15p ET.

Note to Sportsman competitors: If you want your hometown and sponsors mentioned during qualifying (the only real opportunity for us to do so), and you haven’t already (on or before July 5th) filled out an information sheet at the track or submitted an information form on the website, please do so as soon as possible. We want to make sure we mention who you are, where you’re from, and who supports you. So please take a few minutes to fill out an information form on our website before this Saturday (again, if you haven’t already turned in a sheet or submitted a form on or before July 5th) so that we may have information on you. Any information forms or sheets collected on Saturday July 12th, will not be received until following the features, so any information form or sheet turned in at any time on July 12th will not be used, regardless of if they’re turned in at the track or submitted online. You can find the form right here: http://411motorspeedway.net/links/driver-information-form.

Jordon Horton claims Sportsman win, while Jason Welshan wins in NeSmith

Seymour, TN – Mother Nature tried to spoil plans of the drivers, crew, and fans of the 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday night, but in typical 411 fashion, “The Show Must Go On!” Rain would move over the speedway just as heat race action was set to get underway. In fact, the first heat was lined up and ready to pull onto the speedway, when the rain would pick up. The rain shower would last until about 8:15p, when Mitch McCarter and Joe Byrd called for a second mandatory drivers meeting. McCarter and Byrd would tell the drivers that the track would be willing to continue the night, but with features only, but it was up to the drivers. McCarter and Byrd took a poll, and mostly all the drivers elected to race instead of load up and call it a night. Track prep would get underway, and the first feature would take the green flag at 9:51p. Claiming the first checkers would be Chase King in Thunder & Lightning. Next was Sportsman, where Jordon Horton took the win. Street Stock was next, where Bradly Lewelling took the victory. Mini Stock was the next feature, where Michael Courtney started his 7th feature of the 2014 season, and won for the 7th time. He will start dead last in his next feature attempt as he’s won 4 points-paying races in a row. The final feature of the night – the NeSmith Late Model feature – saw fireworks fly early and often, resulting in one popular driver uncharacteristically show his frustration under caution which resulted in a disqualification. At the end, it was Jason Welshan taking the win in NeSmith Late Model.

We’ll take this Saturday May 17th off, and return to action on Saturday May 24th with racing in NeSmith Late Model, Sportsman, Thunder & Lightning, Street Stock, and Mini Stock. Mark your calendars as the Limited Late Model division returns to action on May 31st in a $1,000-to-win feature race! On May 24th, gates will open at 3:00p ET, with the drivers meeting set for 6:00p ET. Adult Grandstand tickets will be $10, kids 12 & under free with paying adult. Adult pit passes are $25 with kids 11 & under $15 with signed minor release. As a reminder, tier parking has been permanently closed. We’ll see you all on May 24th!
