Rusty Ballenger cruises to NeSmith win as David Miley captures first Sportsman win

Seymour, TN – Another beautiful afternoon graced the 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday afternoon, where the night got kicked off with NeSmith Qualifying. Adam Beeler would eclipse the previous fastest time with his blistering lap of 14.065. Rusty Ballenger was not far behind as the 2nd place qualifier, who turned in a lap of 14.076. Next was Sportsman, where David Miley would take fast qualifier honors and start on the pole for the Sportsman feature with his lap of 14.514 which was good enough to earn him the Sportsman division qualifying record. When feature time rolled around, Thunder & Lightning was first, where Chase King took win #5 on the season. Sportsman was next, where we saw a record 11 cautions and the feature shortened because of time to 20 laps. Jordon Horton took the win, but was light on the scales, handing the win over to David Miley. Next was Street Stock, where Chris Rickett took win #2 and 2 in a row. Nick Perry took win #3 in Mini Stock, and capping off the night was Rusty Ballenger, also collecting win #3.

As announced several times on Saturday night, 411 Motor Speedway will sit idle on Saturday July 19th as we take care of the racing surface for our first hosting of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals series on Tuesday July 22nd. In support of the Schaeffer’s Oil Souther Nationals Super Late Models will be Sportsman, Street Stock, and Mini Stock.

On Tuesday July 22nd, the gates will swing open at 3:00p ET, with the drivers meeting scheduled for 6:45p ET and hotlaps at 7:00p ET. We would like to remind all competitors at this time that the 411 Motor Speedway is under a strict 11:00p curfew, so all drivers need to make sure they know when they need to be in staging and must be lined up promptly.

Admission pricing for July 22nd will be Adult Grandstands $18 (if you kept your ticket stub from Saturday July 12th, present it at the ticket booth for $2 off), kids 12 & under still free with paid adult. Jordon Horton claims Sportsman win, while Jason Welshan wins in NeSmith

Seymour, TN – Mother Nature tried to spoil plans of the drivers, crew, and fans of the 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday night, but in typical 411 fashion, “The Show Must Go On!” Rain would move over the speedway just as heat race action was set to get underway. In fact, the first heat was lined up and ready to pull onto the speedway, when the rain would pick up. The rain shower would last until about 8:15p, when Mitch McCarter and Joe Byrd called for a second mandatory drivers meeting. McCarter and Byrd would tell the drivers that the track would be willing to continue the night, but with features only, but it was up to the drivers. McCarter and Byrd took a poll, and mostly all the drivers elected to race instead of load up and call it a night. Track prep would get underway, and the first feature would take the green flag at 9:51p. Claiming the first checkers would be Chase King in Thunder & Lightning. Next was Sportsman, where Jordon Horton took the win. Street Stock was next, where Bradly Lewelling took the victory. Mini Stock was the next feature, where Michael Courtney started his 7th feature of the 2014 season, and won for the 7th time. He will start dead last in his next feature attempt as he’s won 4 points-paying races in a row. The final feature of the night – the NeSmith Late Model feature – saw fireworks fly early and often, resulting in one popular driver uncharacteristically show his frustration under caution which resulted in a disqualification. At the end, it was Jason Welshan taking the win in NeSmith Late Model.

We’ll take this Saturday May 17th off, and return to action on Saturday May 24th with racing in NeSmith Late Model, Sportsman, Thunder & Lightning, Street Stock, and Mini Stock. Mark your calendars as the Limited Late Model division returns to action on May 31st in a $1,000-to-win feature race! On May 24th, gates will open at 3:00p ET, with the drivers meeting set for 6:00p ET. Adult Grandstand tickets will be $10, kids 12 & under free with paying adult. Kip Sawyer muscles his way to Sportsman win

Seymour, TN – Mother Nature helped 411 Motor Speedway officials with track prep on Saturday night, albeit not requested. Rain showers moved over the track around 4:30p and finally tapered off around 6:00p. Track officials quickly got to work in sealing the track up, and did a magnificent job at that. By 7:15p we were underway with hotlaps. Kicking the night off was NeSmith Late Model qualifying, where Seymour, TN’s Ryan King in the Brian King Roofing machine would top the speed chart with his lap of 14.320. Following him along the front row was another Seymour, TN native of Rusty Ballenger with his lap of 14.592. In feature action, Mini Stock was first, with Michael Courtney taking win #5 on the season. Sportsman was next, and it was a dandy. Wayne Rader would show the way through the first 11 laps, but it was Kip Sawyer sneaking to Rader’s inside into turn 3 on the final lap, with Rader bouncing off the turn 4 wall and Sawyer taking his first feature win. Street Stock was next, where Bradly Lewelling stole the show. Thunder & Lightning saw David Miley check out until he dropped fluid and spun in 3 on lap 7. Jeffrey Wood would inherit the lead, but he was no match as Chase King took the lead on lap 10 to win. Rounding out the night was NeSmith Late Model, where Ryan King had checked out on the field, lapping cars left and right, until he got to the machine of Marty Calloway. King would go around in 2 on lap 28 and slide through the infield. Race control determined that Calloway would be charged with the caution, awarding King the race lead once again. He would survive a green, white, checker finish to win.

If Ogle wins, Comer would need to finish no worse than 2nd position to clinch the championship. Comer has the most wins, so he would win the tie-breaker. Ogle will need to finish 4 positions better than Comer, or win and he would need Comer to finish 3rd or worse.

In Street Stock, Jason Ogle held off a strong field of cars to claim the victory. In Mini Stock, Keith Sands and David Singleton dueled virtually the entire feature, with Singleton taking his 10th win of 2012. In NeSmith Crates, Ryan King and Cory Hedgecock duked it out, with Hedgecock ultimately coming out on top. In Thunder & Lightning, the bad luck streak ended as Robbie Comer claimed the checkers. In Topless Modified, Keith Gregory made some noise as he picked up his 6th win of the season. And finally in Limited Late Model action, points leader Josh Collins led until just past halfway when mechanical trouble relegated him to a bad finish. Chase King went on to claim the checkers while Rusty Ballenger decreased his deficit to 15 points as the championship battle is shaping up nicely in Limited Late Model.

Crabtree busted again, while sparks fly early in Street Stock

Another great Saturday night of racing action is in the books at 411 Motor Speedway, and it was a barn burner. In the Street Stock division, we saw the sparks fly early as Travis Reno showed his displeasure with Bradly Lewelling. After the sparks cooled and the dust settled, Lewelling was the winner. Moving on to the Mini Stock division, the Rooftop Rocket took it to the rooftop of 411 Motor Speedway’s banking and claimed the win in that division. Next feature on the speedway was the NeSMITH Crate Late Models. David Crabtree sat on the pole, and jumped quickly to the lead. The dogfight was for 2nd as teammates Anthony White and Justin Summers ran door-to-door most of the night. After the dust settled, Crabtree took the win, with White and Summers the top 3. However, NeSMITH ordered the top 5 competitors to the tech room, where Crabtree and Summers were disqualified, handing the win to Anthony White. Next up was Thunder & Lightning, where Robbie Comer poured the coal to the field, easily walking with the win, and in Limited Late Models, Chase King and Adam Beeler ran side-by-side for the first 30 laps, until Josh Collins joined the fray and made it a 3-way battle for the win. All three drivers ran 3 wide for a couple of moments, before Chase King would claim the checkers!

Another great night of action is coming your way on April 14th, so circle the date and we’ll see you at Tennessee’s Action Track!
