McCarter, Whitehead, Dalton, Woods, Merritt, Driskill, Sexton visit victory lane at 411 Motor Speedway

SEYMOUR, Tenn. (March 23, 2019) – 411 Motor Speedway delivered an exciting seven division racing program Saturday night to back up the track’s nickname of “Tennessee’s Action Track.” Warrior Race Cars was presenting sponsor for Kidz Zone prior to the racing activities, and fun was had by all the young fans as they received prizes and got a special meet-and-greet with Sportsman Late Model driver Addison Cardwell.

Pierce McCarter of Sevierville captured the Crate Late Model victory, while Jake Whitehead of Maryville recorded the Sportsman Late Model win, with Jimmy Dalton of Powell bringing home the Open Wheel Modified victory.

Michael Woods of White Pine captured the Modified Street victory, while Lee Merritt of Knoxville recorded the Classic win. Josh Driskill sped to the Street Stock victory, and Keven Sexton of Huntsville won the Front Wheel Drive feature.

The Crate Late Model feature shaped up to be very competitive during qualifying as both Jason Cardwell and Pierce McCarter timed-in close, with Cardwell at 15.545 seconds and McCarter at 15.551 on the clock. The front-row duo battled in the early going along with Rusty Ballenger, Trevor Sise, Jesse Lowe, Devin Stuart, Ross White and Terry Poore jockeying for position. … Cardwell is a seasoned veteran, while McCarter is a young hard charger and both drivers will get up on the wheel. On this night McCarter earned bragging rights as he picked up the win over Cardwell, with Lowe, Sise and Ballenger rounding out the top five finishers.

If at first you don’t succeed, then dig a little deeper working on your hot rod during the week and see if you can’t find a little more speed. That’s exactly what Jake Whitehead did. After finishing in second place last week at the season opener, Whitehead was determined to try and improve one more position and “park it” in victory lane. He unloaded as the quickest in hot laps, and backed his speed up by being fastest in Sportsman Late Model qualifying at 15.575 seconds. … Whitehead jumped out into a lead at the start he would never relinquish as he rolled to the feature win over Clyde Stanton, Adam Mitchell, Zach Sise and Addison Cardwell.

There’s a saying of “you can’t keep a good man down,” and that definitely applies to Jimmy Dalton. Dalton had a bad wreck at start of last year while testing and destroyed his race car and wound up sitting out the whole season. He debuted a new Open Wheel Modified last week and finished a strong fourth out of a 15-car field. Dalton was a man on a mission tonight as he set fast-time in qualifying at 17.366 seconds and then proceeded to lead flag-to-flag in recording the victory over Amos Bunch, Josh Henry, Billy Palmer and Ricky Tinch.

Wayne Rader 16.669 Michael Woods got around Wayne Rader with just six laps remaining and held on to capture his second straight Modified Street feature win. Finishing third through fifth, respectively, were David Clark, Dwayne Fox and Lance Creasman.

Defending Classic track champion Lee Merritt remained in the spotlight for the second straight week as he drove to victory over Will Carey, Adam Engel, Mac Lockhart and Joshua Chesney.

Josh Driskill let a win slip through his grasp last week after driving off a little too hard into the first turn and sliding up the track losing the lead, and wound up dropping back to third in the running order. You can rest assured he wasn’t about to let a trip to victory lane be spoiled again. He drove a flawless race to capture the Street Stock win over Steve Owens, Gary Sutton, Wendell Williams and Henry.

Sexton, Patterson and Adams, no, it’s not a law firm. But each member of the trio definitely “drove it like they stole it” during the Front Wheel Drive feature as they battled up front for position. Keven Sexton proved to be a warrior as he held off all challengers to capture the victory over JJ Patterson, Nathan Adams, Jake Duncan and Jacob Sharp.
