Shannon Emery survives Street Stock Shootout

A beautiful East Tennessee afternoon greeted the fans of the 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday, and the cooler temperatures meant a faster race track! Now we’ll take a moment to congratulate the feature winners. Mike Townsend (Mini Stock), Shannon Emery (Street Stock), Kevin Lewis (Modified), Chase King (Thunder & Lightning), and Brad Lowe (Limited Late Model)!

Now, don’t forget fans, don’t come to the speedway this coming Saturday October 5th because you’ll see locked gates! Why? Because we’re racing on Friday night! It’s our final Friday night race of the 2013 season, and it’s the 3rd Annual Fall Brawl! In action will be the Modified Street ($2,000 to win), Limited Late Model ($2,000 to win), and Mini Stock ($500 to win). All gates open at 4:00p ET with the drivers meeting 6:30p ET. Adults in the grandstand will be $15, kids 6-11 $5 and 5 & under free. Tier parking for all ages will be $20. Pit Passes for adults will be $35. Please remember that alcohol is strictly prohibited in the grandstand area, but is permitted in Tier Parking. See you all on Friday!

Mini Stock
Jason Gregory and Mike Townsend your front row, ready to roll, green flag in the air! Townsend with the jump off 2, Gregory stays to his inside and off 4 Gregory takes the lead but caution flies as Bryant Idles is around here on lap 0. Complete restart coming.

Green flag in the air as we’ll try again, and this time Gregory stays a half car length in the lead off 2, and off 4 clears Townsend. Townsend in 2nd, Michael Courtney into 3rd but now Tim Kilby is around in 2. Caution here on lap 1.

Green flag back in the air, Gregory off 2 with the lead, Courtney in 2nd, Townsend back to 3rd. Lee Merritt and Sam Burgess side by side off 4 with Burgess challenging, but Merritt takes the position. Gregory pulling away from the field, as he’s opened up a straightaway lead over Courtney with 6 laps complete. Now caution flies here on lap 6 as Merritt stalls with a flat in 2.

Green flag back in the air, Townsend slips into the 2nd spot, here comes Burgess as he powers around the outside on Courtney, but now Kilby and Alex Squires get together, Merritt with nowhere to go and he’ll slam into both cars. Caution again here on lap 6.

Green flag back in the air, Gregory leads off 2, Townsend in 2nd, and Burgess powers around Courtney off 4, now Courtney tries to battle back, side by side into 3 and Burgess gets the position off 4. Courtney still stalking Burgess, as everyone has distanced themselves among each other at this point. Burgess now has caught up with Townsend to challenge for the 2nd spot, but without a caution or mechanical trouble, he won’t be able to catch Gregory. Burgess falls back in line behind Townsend, now off 4 pulls back inside and off 2 falls back in line. Burgess now peeks inside on Townsend once again, side by side off 2. Checkers on this one, Gregory takes the win over Townsend and Burgess. After this feature, Gregory and Burgess would both refuse tech, earning them disqualifications, handing the win over to Townsend, with Courtney getting 2nd and 3rd going to Byers.

Street Stock Shootout
Shannon Emery and David Price your front row, ready to roll, green flag! Emery off 4 with the lead but Bill Webb is around in 3, caution here on lap 0 so it’ll be a complete restart.

Green flag back in the air, Emery this time takes command off 2, now Webb bounces off Justin French, rips the door loose on French’s machine, then makes contact with another driver, but everyone continues on as French calls it a night. Up front it’s Emery showing the way over Price and Austin Atkins. Jeff McLemore in the 4th spot with Shannon Smith and Webb the next 2. Adam Engel makes his way around Brady Lee, sets his sights on Webb, now Webb gets loose, Engel will slow up to avoid contact and that allows Lee to pull around Engel, now Lee sets his sights on Webb, now Austin Atkins gets sideways, McLemore with nowhere to go and caution flies here on lap 6.

Green flag back in the air, McLemore challenges Emery into 1, falls back in line, claims 2nd over Price, now Webb and Lee have some contact but they all keep it going. Austin Byrd makes his way around Bret Banks, now Banks drives into 3 and back around Byrd to re-take the position. Emery running away from McLemore and Price, now Lee working on Smith with Engel on his bumper. Now Engel peeks inside Smith as Banks is around in 3. Caution here on lap 10.

Green flag back in the air, Webb pulls into the infield off 2 as Emery begins to pull away. Price in 2nd with McLemore hanging onto 3rd, Smith and Lee the next 2 as Engel follows Lee, looking for a way around but so far nothing doing. Lee all over the bumper of Smith, now Lee pulls inside off 4, falls back in line, now caution here on lap 14 on the frontstretch as Scott Atkins and Banks make contact. Didn’t see what happened but the front end is damaged on Banks’ machine and looks like something is broke on the front end on Scott Atkins also. He’ll head to the pits for repair and rejoin the field.

Green flag back in the air, McLemore up high looking outside on Price, side by side for 2nd into 3. Lee now inside Smith for the 3rd spot, now Lee gets into Smith, that will turn both cars around, Engel will get collected and Scott Atkins will come in several seconds after all the cars stopped and slams into Engel. Caution here on lap 15.

Green flag back in the air, we’re down to just 4 competitors to challenge for the win. McLemore pulls inside to challenge but it’s Emery with the power off 2. Price looking for a way around McLemore, gives a nudge into 3, pulls inside off 4, side by side for 2nd with 3 laps remaining. McLemore with the advantage off 2, as checkers are in the air, Emery takes the win over Price and McLemore as Price pulled around McLemore on the final lap.

Modified

Jim Miller and Kevin Lewis your front row, ready to roll, green flag. Lewis with the jump off 2, Miller in 2nd, Tony Lindsey in the 3rd spot. Bryan Cooper now gets sideways in 2 with Dale Reed and Shane Taylor the next 2. Blake Kelley making a move around the inside on Tony Spoon with William Hux rounding out the field. Lewis beginning to pull away, Miller in 2nd with a mirror full of Lindsey. Now Lindsey gets some air in 3, but will continue on as Reed pulls into the infield off 2. Now caution in the air here on lap 7 as Lindsey is around in 2.

Green flag back in the air, Lewis with the jump off 2, Cooper in 2nd with Taylor inside on Miller but caution flies as Spoon is around in 3. Still on lap 7.

Green flag back in the air one more time, Lewis in command off 2, Cooper in 2nd, Taylor now into 3rd. Lindsey around Miller for the 4th spot, now Kelley almost slides into Miller, but straightens it back up and everyone continues on. Lindsey now inside on Taylor to challenge for the 3rd spot, with 13 laps complete. Lewis schooling the field now as Cooper slides in 4, he’ll pull into the infield, now Spoon spins in 4.

Green flag in the air, Lindsey slides into the 3rd spot, Kelley holding his own ahead of Miller. Checkers on this one, Lewis takes the win over Lindsey and Kelley.

Thunder & Lightning
Larry Sullivan and Chase King your front row, green flag in the air. King with the jump off 2, David Miley follows outside around Sullivan, put Sullivan back to 3rd. David Kerr and Rocky Ogle the next 2 as Ogle powers inside and around Kerr for the 4th spot. Freddy Hillard and Steve Hillard the next 2 then it’s Jeffrey Wood, Bradly Lewelling, Robert Woolard, and Chad McLemore rounding out the field. King opening up about a half straightaway lead over Miley, who has about a quarter straightaway over Sullivan. Ogle trying to reel in Sullivan with already 7 laps complete. King now working lap traffic as Miley is about a straightaway behind now. Caution flies here on lap 10 as Woolard is around in 2.

Green flag back in the air, King shows the way into 3, Miley in 2nd, now Sullivan gets around Ogle for the 3rd spot, as Wood dives inside on Kerr, falls back in line. Now Kerr with a bobble, and Wood pounces and steals away the 5th spot. But now Steve Hillard goes for a slide through the infield and just about rolls back into the path of McLemore, but McLemore sneaks by with no disaster.

Green flag back in the air, they’ll make it around to turn 3 where McLemore will appear to break something in the right-front as he noses into the outside wall. Driver is ok.

Green flag back in the air, King your leader Miley in 2nd, now Ogle looks inside Sullivan, Sullivan off 2 next time around claims 3rd. Wood in the 5th spot chasing Ogle. Now Lewelling slows off 4 and stalls. Caution here on lap 18.

Green flag back in the air, King powers off 4, and they’ll finish up this feature with King taking the win over Miley and Ogle, as Ogle made contact with Sullivan, which collected Wood on the final lap.

Limited Late Model
Trevor Sise and Brad Lowe the front row, ready to go, green flag. Sise with the jump off 2, Lowe in 2nd, Jason Manley in 3rd. Cory Hedgecock in 4th with Rusty Ballenger 5th. Mike Weeks peeks inside on Bobby Giffin, now here comes Ryan King as he pulls inside on Weeks, has to fall back in line. Now around goes Josh Evans in turn 2, caution here on lap 3.

 

Green flag back in the air, Sise shows the way off 2 as Manley and Lowe make contact off 2, both cars continue on with Lowe claiming 2nd, now Phil Helton gets up on 2 wheels in 1, Evans has nowhere to go and slides into him, caution here on lap 4.

Green flag back in the air, Sise powers off 2, now Hedgecock looks 3-wide down low for the 2nd spot, but he’ll fall back in line behind Lowe and Manley. Ballenger closing in on Hedgecock as King chases Weeks. King inside on Weeks off 2 and into 3, side by side off 4. King working the bottom but the top prevails off 2. Lowe not falling too far behind Sise, as he’s working the bottom and now closes in on Sise. 10 laps now complete as Sise feels the pressure, Lowe peeks inside into 3, falls back in line. Lowe working the bottom of the track, now into 1 they’re side by side again but again, top prevails, now off turn 4 it’s Lowe with a slidejob across the nose of Sise, give Lowe the lead. Now lap traffic factors in as Manley powers inside on Sise, give Manley the 2nd spot. Hedgecock in the 4th spot. Lowe in command, Manley in 2nd, Sise is 3rd, with 18 laps complete. Lowe putting on a clinic as all the drivers seem to have moved to the bottom, at least in 3 and 4, as Hedgecock almost touches the grass, now Giffin slows off 4 to bring out caution here on lap 21.

Green flag back in the air, Sise now inside on Manley into 1, they almost touch off 2, that opens the door for Hedgecock, now Manley slows off 2, Sise pulls to his outside as Hedgecock joins the 3-way battle for 2nd. Sise claims 2nd for now, Manley back to 3rd with Hedgecock hounding him. King around Ballenger, he sets his sights on Hedgecock with 5 laps remaining. Hedgecock with a run off 2, pulls inside on Manley into 3, and snatches 3rd from Manley. Checkers in the air on this one, Lowe takes the win over Hedgecock and Sise.
