‘Frankenstorm’ pushes 6th Annual Steel Head Nationals to November 10th

The so-called ‘Frankenstorm’ – the massive Hurricane Sandy – would push in moisture just after hotlaps had concluded at the 411 Motor Speedway to force track officials to postpone the 6th Annual Steel Head Nationals to November 10th. Track officials did everything in their power to get the show back underway, but the persistent mist would force officials to call it a night. All fans are encouraged to hang onto their ticket stubs and arm bands to re-enter the facility on November 10th. Those who were not in attendance or those who have lost their tickets, will have to pay the admission price that day. Since qualifying had not gotten underway, all new Limited Late Model drivers are encouraged to join us, as there will be no penalty for those who were not there, only the entry fee will be due. In all support divisions, the same goes for you, any driver who was not in attendance will be permitted to race since no qualifying or heat races had gotten underway.

So now, let all your friends know about the race and all the great action they’ll see, and you’ll have 2 weeks to prepare for the show!

Johnny Ridings returns to victory lane only weeks after fiery incident

Another great night of racing is complete at 411 Motor Speedway, and now there’s only 1 racing event left for the 2012 season. Last night, we kicked the night off with the Limited Late Model B-Main, which was won by Heath Alvey. Next up was Classic, where Robbie Sands wore out the competition. In Topless Modified, Johnny Ridings would seal the deal as he snatched the early lead and held off several challenges from Keith Gregory to claim the win. In Thunder & Lightning, this feature was shortened to 7 laps with Robbie Comer taking the win. Next was Mini Stock, where Rocky McNabb would take the win. In Street Stock, Dale Watson would be the victor. In Topless Limited Late Model action, Cory Hedgecock would lead all the way to the white flag, when Matt Henderson would muscle his way past off turn 2 to claim the checkers. Hedgecock would lodge a protest against Henderson, who would accept, and was declared legal so the win stands.

Coming up this Tuesday will be an open practice, gates open at 5, practice runs from 6-9. $10 in the pits, $25 per car, and tier will be open free to the public! Be sure to join us this Saturday October 27th for the final race of the 2012 season, the 6th Annual Steel Head Nationals. In addition, we’ll crown the 2012 points champions, with the Mini Stock being decided on this night. Also, we’ll induct the newest members of the 411 Motor Speedway Hall of Fame! We’ll be starting earlier, with the gates opening at 2, and the drivers meeting starting at 4. $15 stands, $20 tier, and $35 pits!

Logan Dukes takes Coy Floyd Classic Shootout on wild Saturday night

A wild Saturday night is in the books at 411 Motor Speedway! Fans certainly got their $10 worth plus more! In Coy Floyd Classic Shootout Action, we saw Logan Dukes take the checkers. In Topless Modified, Johnny Ridings was well on his way to victory when a broken shock caused his car to spin in turn 4 – on the last lap – handing the win over to Buddy Norwood. It was Ridings’ first race since suffering severe burns in a fiery incident at 411 on July 28th. In Thunder & Lightning, it was David Miley taking the win. In Mini Stock, James Mitchell would beat and bang on David Singleton throughout the feature, until the final lap. Mitchell would knock Singleton out of the way off 2, then Keith Sands would power inside both drivers into 3. Off 4, Singleton would spin Sands, giving the win to Mitchell. Mitchell would refuse to pull his valve cover, resulting in a DQ, handing the win to Dalton King. In Street Stock action, it was all Reagan Williams but he had his hands full as Nick Barnard challenged all 20 laps. And finally in Limited Late Model it was all Adam Beeler as he would take the win.

Join us this Saturday night as it’s Topless for the Tata’s. Classes in action are the Topless Limited Late Models, Topless Modified, Street Stock, Thunder & Lightning, Mini Stock, and Classic. Also joining the program will be the Powder Puff (Ladies Only) feature! You won’t want to miss the action, and be sure to wear PINK this Saturday!
