Chase King drops bomb short of victory; More racing ahead

The 2011 season is quickly drawing to a close, but there is still a few races left on the schedule! This past Saturday night was a cold one–and the final night of racing under the lights–but the action was fast and furious in Limited Late Models! Ryan King and Rusty Ballenger put on a side-by-side battle for over 8 laps that brought the crowd to the edge of their seats–and it was a battle for 3rd! Here’s the winners from Saturday night: Ryan King (CLM), Jerry Hux (TM), Robbie Comer (ST/MS), Chuck McMahan (MM), David Singleton (MS), and Pierce McCarter (LLM). Only 2 Street Stocks signed in and were placed with the Modified Street.

Next up on the schedule is a regular racing program this Saturday, November 5th! After that, we’ll welcome the Super Late Models in a 40-lap, $3,000-to-win, $300-to-start feature! Crate Late Model – A-Main
Pink flag in the air, Ryan King off with the early jump over Mack McCarter with Cory Cate and Marty Calloway side by side for 3rd, now Calloway drives inside off turn 2, give Calloway the 3rd spot. Clyde Stanton battling with Dalton King for the 5th spot as they’re all chasing R. King. Now something has broke on the Stone Fuller machine, looks like a broken shock. First caution flies her on lap 3.
Pink flag back in the air one more time, with laps 17 remaining! R. King with the jump once again as he powers away from McCarter off 4. Calloway in 3rd with a mirror of Cate at his rear bumper with D. King rounding out the top 5. Stanton in 6th, Cory Hedgecock in 7th and rounding the field out will be Justin Beeler. R. King a half straightaway lead now over McCarter as they click off lap 6. Calloway in 3rd as Cate is trying to find a way around to claim 3rd. D. King sneaking up to close in on Cate, but now D. King gets sideways and he’ll lose touch for a moment, now he has a mirror full of Stanton as they sail into 3. Calloway and Cate has driven away from D. King, with Stanton now losing touch of D. King as they complete lap 10. Now Cate has broken, he’s up high and slowing down the backstretch, looking for a place to pull in, and does, so we’ll stay green. R. King your leader, McCarter in 2nd, a full straightaway behind, with another straightaway back to Calloway. Calloway has opened up the gap back to D. King, as he’s opened it up on Stanton, with Hedgecock at his back door with the leader not far behind. Now 4 laps remaining. R. King way out in front of this one. Checkers fly, R. King with the win, McCarter comes home 2nd, and 3rd goes to Calloway.

Topless Modified
Pink flag in the air for the Topless, Jerry Hux and Mike Lewis your front row with Johnny Ridings behind him. Hux off with the early lead here over Lewis and Ridings, with William Hux rounding out the field. Keith Gregory made a lap but pulled off, apparently mechanical troubles on his machine.

Not much happened with this one, J. Hux the winner, Lewis in 2nd, and 3rd goes to Ridings.

Modified Street / Super Truck
Robbie Comer and Freddy Hillard your front row. Comer quickly out with the lead, F. Hillard in 2nd, Steve Hillard in 3rd, with Mitchell Childress, Tony Horton, and Tracy Wolfe rounding out the field. Comer still your race leader here as 10 laps are complete.

Not much happening in this one either, Comer with the win, F. Hillard in 2nd, and S. Hillard finishes 3rd.

Mod-Mini
Pink flag in the air for the Mod-Mini, Rocky McNabb and Chuck McMahan lead the field to the green, but McMahan quickly jumps to the lead off 2. Jeff Copeland in the 3rd spot with a mirror full of Brian Dinkins with Nick Perry and Cindy Poore rounding out the field. Now caution flies here on lap 7 as Poore slows to a crawl in turn 2.

Pink flag back in the air, McMahan pulls off turn 4 with the lead. McNabb tries to hang close, as now 11 laps are in the books. Copeland in 3rd with Dinkins rounding out the field. Copeland breaks in turn 3 here on lap 17, Dinkins almost plowed through him, and he’ll pull into the infield on the frontstretch. Checkers in the air, McMahan the winner, McNabb in 2nd, and Dinkins comes home 3rd.

Mini-Stock
The Singletons are on the front row here, David Singleton on the inside, Anthony Singleton on his outside, ready to go, PINK FLAG!! Tony Stanton quickly takes to the battle now as Sam Burgess goes sliding through the infield, he’ll get it whoaed up and we’ll stay green and he’ll return to the speedway. D. Singleton your leader, A. Singleton in 2nd, Stanton in 3rd, Mike Townsend 4th. A. Singleton now gets a piece of the wall in turn 3, and caution will fly here on lap 9.

Pink flag back in the air, D. Singleton remains your leader, Stanton in 2nd, Townsend in 3rd with Burgess in 4th. D. Singleton clicks off lap 11 as he’s opening his lead up over Stanton with each passing lap. Keith Sands around in turn 4, so caution flies here on lap 18.

Green flag back in the air, D. Singleton back away with the lead, but Stanton is going to make him work for it. Checkers in the air, D. Singleton takes the win, Stanton in 2nd, 3rd goes to Townsend.

Limited Late Model – A-Main
Chase King set fast time, he chooses outside, that puts Layne Clifton in the inside, ready to roll, PINK FLAG!! C. King off with the lead off 2 in convincing fashion, but caution flies as Clyde Stanton pounds the wall in 1 and almost rolls over, so we‘ll get a complete restart.

Pink flag back in the air, now Jody Horton around, Bryan Patty around also, caution again.

Pink flag in the air one more time. C. King fires in turn 3 where the cars come onto the track, but we’ll stay green. Clifton in 2nd, Rusty Ballenger in 3rd with Pierce McCarter on his outside, Scott Gardner behind them with Ryan King in tow. Lap 2 in the books, C. King the leader, Clifton in 2nd, P. McCarter 3rd, Ballenger 4th, 5th is Gardner. Mack McCarter and Horton battling door to door now as they head into turn 1, M. McCarter with the advantage off 4. Manley now on the inside of R. King, they close in on Gardner and slight contact is made. R. King has his hands full, as the top 4 is closing in on each other. C. King the leader, Clifton in 2nd, P. McCarter and Ballenger try to stay close. M. McCarter on the inside of Marty Calloway for the spot into turn 3 as 7 laps are complete. P. McCarter now looking for room on the high side of Clifton, battles door to door in 1, now P. McCarter powers into the 2nd spot as Patty slows to a stop in turn 4. Caution now flies here with 9 laps in the books.

Pink flag in the air one more time, 9 laps down, 30 remain! C. King once again powers with the lead into turn 1, with P. McCarter on his tail, Clifton in 3rd, Ballenger 4th and 5th belongs to Gardner. R. King and Manley still doing battle as Calloway and M. McCarter race door to door in 3. Dalton King on the inside of Horton as they sail into 1, now R. King looks inside Gardner off 2, can’t make it stick as he gets a boost from Manley down the frontstretch. C. King now under pressure for the lead as P. McCarter wants a piece of it. Clifton in 3rd and Ballenger still 4th. 5th is up for grabs as we see Gardner pull into the infield, tough break for the pink #25. Back up front, 16 laps in the books, C. King under heavy pressure for the lead as P. McCarter looks to close in, but now caution flies as D. King goes around in turn 2. Calloway seems to have gotten a piece as well. 16 laps in the books.

Pink flag back in the air one more time! C. King crawls in turn 4, playing with the field here but it’s all fair game as the pink flag flies. C. King your leader, P. McCarter in 2nd, Clifton in 3rd, but it’s up for grabs. R. King now finds himself in 3rd as he’s disposed of Ballenger, now Ballenger tries to close back in on the rear spoiler of R. King, looks once again off 4. Ballenger trying to get around R. King one more time off turn 4, can’t make the pass. They’ll stay side by side as they work into turn 3. C. King under pressure from P. McCarter once again, as the top 2 is beginning to check out from Clifton. Now 22 laps on the board, C. King your leader as he’s opened a cushion on P. McCarter, Clifton in 3rd with the battle still on for 4th, they’re still side by side. Ballenger down low, R. King up high, they are still side by side off turn 2 here on lap 25! Now P. McCarter is closing in on the lead, looks inside into turn 1, can’t make it happen. And now caution flies once again, C. King blows a motor off turn 4. What a tough break for the race leader!

Pink flag in the air one more time! P. McCarter up high, Clifton looks inside for a second, falls in line. R. King in 3rd, Ballenger in 4th as Ballenger tries to stay close to maybe try some more hard racing with R. King. P. McCarter your leader, Clifton in 2nd, Ballenger has now closed in and now looks door to door on R. King for a moment. 32 laps in the books, P. McCarter in the lead, he’s pulled away a half straightaway over Clifton. Clifton has a half straightaway on R. King, now Ballenger moves inside once again, but can’t get the run off the corners. Manley in the 5th spot with M. McCarter, Horton, and Cory Hedgecock rounding out the field. P. McCarter driving away with this one, with 2 laps remaining. Ballenger and R. King still side by side, give the 3rd spot to Ballenger off 4! Checkers in the air! P. McCarter with the win, Clifton in 2nd, and 3rd goes to Ballenger!
