RACE NIGHT RECAP

Crate Late Model
Ready to rock in our first feature of the night, it’s 9:56, mother nature wasn’t fair, but here we go! Ryan King and Layne Clifton your front row, PURPLE FLAG! King with the early jump into turn 1, Clifton in 2nd, Brad Hall in 3rd with Mack McCarter in 5th. King now pulling away from the field with Clifton in 2nd, Hall in 3rd and McCarter in 4th, Marty Calloway rounds out your top 5 as Scotty Evans nails the wall off 4, broken suspension now on his machine and caution will fly.

Ready to go, purple flag in the air! King leads the field into turn 1, Clifton in 2nd, Hall in 3rd. Now Brad Coffey almost gets sideways off 2, gathers it back up. Now Clifton slides up in turn 1, give Hall the 2nd spot now off 2. Now McCarter looking for room around Clifton. King your leader as he continues to drive away. Hall in the 2nd spot, Clifton in 3rd as they’re single file. Now we see Calloway and Coffey get together and caution flies here on lap 13.

Purple flag back in the air, King beginning to walk away as we’re halfway. King your leader, Hall in 2nd, Clifton in 3rd now as the track appears to be quickening up but now Trevor Sise hard in the wall in turn 3, he’ll back his machine into the wall, fuel all over the place and now a fire under his machine. He’s out of the car and is ok. Tough break for Sise.

Purple flag in the air one more time. King your leader, Hall in 2nd, Clifton in 3rd. Checkers in the air, King your winner, Hall in 2nd and Clifton in 3rd.

Classic
Time is ticking, and with only 3 classics, we’ll run them 10 laps. Purple flag in the air, Adam Engel your race leader as Marvin Ray is in the 2nd spot, now looks low but falls back in line off 4. Cameron Skinner rounds out your field. Engel your leader but Ray isn’t making it easy on the young man as he’s all over the rear bumper. Now he’ll look inside off turn 4 but falls in line down the frontstretch. Now 7 laps in the books, Engel continues to lead, but has a mirror full of Ray. Checkers in the air, Engel your winner, Ray in 2nd, and 3rd goes to Skinner.

Topless Modified
Next up are the Topless guys, they’ll run 15 laps in this one. Purple flag! Marvin Romines powers into turn 1, Johnny Ridings in the 2nd spot as Jerry Hux is in 3rd but now Mike Lewis goes hot into 3 down low, won’t stick, he’ll give up the spot to Johnny Harold. Now Lewis goes around in 3, caution will fly.

Ready to rock and roll one more time, 1 lap is in the books, Romines on it under caution as he leads the field at a fast pace. Purple flag in the air! Romines now gets sideways in 3, Ridings closing the gap as now Ridings pulls inside off 2, can’t make it stick down low. Romines sideways off 4, now sideways in 1, Ridings to the lead! Topless guys slowing down a ton on entry as the track may be slightly soupy for them, now Romines slows on the backstretch, caution flies here on lap 4.

Purple flag in the air one more time, Ridings your leader, Harold in 2nd, Hux in 3rd. Ridings beginning to pull away slightly from the field, but Harold looks inside down the backstretch, they touch in 3, Ridings gets away for a moment off turn 4. 6 laps now in the books. Lewis closing in on Harold for the 2nd spot, now Harold turns up the wick. Low line is not working quite yet but a few drivers are trying to work it in. Hux now under pressure, he’ll give up the spot to Paul Johnson. Ridings continues to lead here with 5 laps to go. Harold closing in off 2, now Hux slows down the frontstretch. Ridings under pressure from Harold now, this one might get interesting with just 3 laps to go. Romines now a lapper as he might factor in on this one, no, he’ll pull inside and slow and let the leaders go. Checkers in the air, Ridings with the win, Harold in 2nd and 3rd goes to Lewis!

Street Stock
Next up on the speedway are the street stocks, making some good time so far as it’s now 10:28. Street Stock will be cut to 15 laps. Sam Ferguson and Jason Ogle lead the field to the purple flag. Ogle your leader off 4 as Billy Sands pulls into the 2nd spot. Ferguson in 3rd as Sims and Bradly Lewelling get together and come to a stop just off turn 2, now Sims backs up and rams into the rear of Lewelling under caution. That’ll get Sims parked from the event. Lewelling looks like his night might be done as well due to damage. Now track officials will park Lewelling as well for his actions in causing the caution.

Ready to go purple now, Ogle your leader, Sands in 2nd, Ferguson in 3rd, Raymond Shepard in 4th. Shepard a track champion here last year. Jeff McLemore now in the 4th spot as he’s looking inside Ferguson, and now Sands WAY up the track off turn 4 looking for the lead, now here comes McLemore. McLemore looking inside Sands for the 2nd spot now as RJ Delfino has a flat right front, but doesn’t pull off the speedway. McLemore now in the 2nd spot as Sands gets a piece of the wall down the backstretch. He’ll spin around in front of the field, Dale Watson gets a piece of Sands. The night will be over for both drivers as caution flies.

Purple flag back in the air. McLemore now looks inside for the race lead, takes it in 3. Ogle now in the 2nd spot, Shepard in 3rd. McLemore driving away with the race lead, but now caution flies here as the #25 loses a water hose down the backstretch, caution will fly here lap 11.

Purple flag in the air one more time, it’ll be purple/white/checker. McLemore a lap from the win now as Shepard looks inside Ogle for the 2nd spot into 1. Checkers in the air, McLemore wins, Ogle in 2nd and 3rd goes to Shepard

Modified Street / Super Truck
Ready to rock with the Mod Street/Super Truck guys here tonight, but the field is missing the Purple truck! Comer not out there tonight, and speaking of purple…Purple flag is in the air! Cory Cate your leader, Steve Hillard in 2nd, but now Mitchell Childress spins in turn 2, caution flies here with a lap in the books.

Purple flag back in the air now, Cate off with the lead off 2, S. Hillard in 2nd, now we see Tony Tindell hit the wall in 3, he’ll drive away and we’ll stay green. Now Childress spins again off 4, now Freddy Hillard gets sideways trying to whoa up for the caution, gets it slowed and controlled before making contact with Childress.

Purple flag back in the air one more time, 3 laps are in the books as the clock ticks away. Cate powers out of 4 as S. Hillard tries to keep up, but Cate powers away in 3 and opens the lead up. Cate blistering the field now as 8 laps are on the board. S. Hillard in 2nd, F. Hillard in 3rd. Tom Huston now in the 4th spot, but he slows down the backstretch, and Cate makes his way around both Huston and Childress, now S. Hillard tries to make his way around Huston and Tindell, now F. Hillard makes heavy contact with Tindell, Tindell pulls directly into the infield now with 12 laps in the books. Cate your leader, S. Hillard in 2nd, F. Hillard in 3rd, might have a flat developing on his machine, possibly right-rear. White flag flying in the air for Cate, and yes, F. Hillard does have a flat right rear, but checkers in the air, Cate with the win but makes contact with Huston in 1. S. Hillard in 2nd and 3rd goes to F. Hillard.

Mod-Mini
Purple flag in the air for the Mod-Mini, Rocky McNabb off with the lead as he shows the way over Chuck McMahan and Nick Perry. Taylor Dennis sounds like she has a motor going south as Brian Dinkins makes his way into the 4th spot. McNabb showing the way here with 6 laps in the books. McMahan beginning to close in on the race lead. Now Dennis goes a lap down as it still sounds like her motor isn’t up to full song. Now with 11 laps in the books, white flag in the air. McNabb powering away, Checkers in the air, McNabb with the win, McMahan in 2nd, 3rd goes to Perry.

Earlier in the night, Rocky McNabb came by the concourse area and filled out a Tribute Card and said he dedicates this win to the memory of his Pappaw who passed away a few years ago after suffering with Alzheimer’s disease.

Mini-Stock
Next up on the speedway is our Mini-Stock division. This one already looks to be a barn burner, but now we have Angie Young hard in the wall, her car only went straight in turn 1, now track officials tending to Young. She and the Shane Taylor made some hard head-on contact with the wall, EMTs are now on the scene. Track officials slowly move her vehicle off the track so EMTs can more safely and easily get her out of the car on level ground in the pit area.

Purple flag in the air. Anthony Singleton your race leader, Jeff Thatcher in 2nd, Dalton King in 3rd. A whole hornet’s nest for the 4th spot as several cars are fighting. Debbie Singleton showing the 4th spot as Sam Burgess and Brandon Johnson close in. But A. Singleton pulling away but King looks inside Thatcher for a moment in 3. Now A. Singleton pulls off the speedway, give the race lead to King. Now Thatcher begins to close in slightly for the lead but now Johnson moves to the inside of Burgess. Now Burgess pulls inside as the white flag flies. Checkers in the air, King with the win, Thatcher in 2nd, 3rd will go to Johnson.

Limited Late Model
Ready to rock, 20 laps of Limited excitement! Adam Beeler and Pierce McCarter the front row, PURPLE FLAG! Now Beeler goes around off the front bumper of McCarter in turn 2, caution will fly and we’ll get a complete restart.

Purple flag in the air one more time. And again we have trouble and the whole field stacks up in turn 1. Beeler can’t get it going through 3 and 4 as well as McCarter can, Beeler will go around one more time. And now the fire extinguisher falls off the tractor and busts open under caution.

Purple flag back Now McCarter POWERS away in 1 with the race lead, he sets sail as they drive off turn 4. Beeler in 2nd, Scott Gardner in 3rd, Bobby Giffin in 4th with Jason Cardwell in 5th with some heavy damage from the last incident on his machine. Chase King looking inside Ryan King for the spot in 3, they’re toward the middle of the field about the 10th place or so. McCarter your leader as Beeler is reeling him in, now Gardner slows and stops in turn 1 and caution flies.

Purple flag back in the air, now Giffin powers to the inside of Beeler off turn 4. Now Cardwell closing in on Beeler, the car looks pretty bent up, but thankfully not as bent up as last Saturday. Great to see him return after his ride last week. Back up front, McCarter closing in on lap traffic as the pace is super fast tonight. Now we see R. King slow in turn 3, Josh Henry and Mark King both pull into the infield off turn 2, 12 laps now in the books. Now R. King pulls into the infield now as Wade Day gets sideways in turn 4 and he’ll wind up in the Mini-Late Model track to bring out the caution. Attrition seems to be rearing it’s ugly head here tonight.

Purple flag back in the air, just 8 laps remain in this one. McCarter quickly powers away with the lead, as Giffin and Beeler chase him into 1. Cardwell in the 4th spot, Ballenger right behind him, now Cardwell powers inside Beeler off turn 4, makes some contact in turn 1 and takes the spot away. McCarter only a lap or two away from lapped traffic now with 4 laps to go. He’s blistering this place tonight. Now Danny Yoder goes around and flips his ride in turn 1. Caution flies here as track officials rush to the scene, and before they can get to him he’s already out of the machine. Now with this and the time being past 11:30, we’ll be forced to drop the checkers per Sevier County Sheriff‘s Department. McCarter with the win, Giffin in 2nd and 3rd goes to Cardwell.
