Racing for a Cure – Alzheimer’s Tennessee Inc Night

Racing for a Cure – September 3rd, 2011
An event to benefit the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Inc., and families affected by this disease.

(SEYMOUR, Tennessee) – With so many families affected by Alzheimer’s disease, 411 Motor Speedway has joined forces with their drivers and fans to help make a difference and raise awareness among the racing community about Alzheimer’s disease. Currently, there is an estimated 5.4 million people with this disease. That’s 1 in every 8! By 2030, that number is estimated to grow to 7.7 million. There are an estimated 14.9 million unpaid caregivers; 80% being family members. What’s worse, Alzheimer’s accounts for an estimated $183 billion in expenses annually. By 2050, that number is projected to reach $1.1 trillion. Alzheimer’s is the 5th leading cause of death for those 65 and older. In 2007, Tennessee alone recorded 2,276 deaths due to Alzheimer’s.

On Saturday night, 411 Motor Speedway will be collecting donations from both drivers and fans in support of the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Inc Special things are planned for both drivers and fans throughout the night. When fans arrive at the speedway, they’ll be greeted to a gorgeous purple setting, as the 411 Motor Speedway staff will be wearing purple. When they walk in, they’ll be able to take a poster and write a dedication to anybody they know with Alzheimer’s disease. During our intermission, drivers will be saluting those with Alzheimer’s with a special parade lap, where fans are invited to hold up their posters during the lap in honor or memory of those with Alzheimer’s. Fans are also encouraged to wear purple to show their support. During the night, drivers will walk over to the grandstands with their helmets, collecting donations for the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Inc.

There is no current cure for Alzheimer’s. However, with your donations, we can help fund research for this disease that affects so many people in so many different ways.

On Saturday, pit gates will open at 4p, grandstand gates open at 5, with the drivers meeting at 5:30 and hotlaps at 5:45. Adult grandstand admission is only $10, with kids 6-11 $5 and kids 5 and under free!
