RACE NIGHT RECAP

Mod-Mini
In Mod-Mini action, we saw Chuck McMahan take the race win, but 2nd place was held until trouble would strike James Mitchell on lap 11. William Tallent would slide into the 2nd spot, but McMahan was too far ahead. Dalton King would start on the pole for the feature but would fall to 5th by lap 1. He would move back up to the 3rd spot on lap 2 and ride there until he would send Tallent for a spin in turn 3 on lap 9. He would be sent to the rear. King would claim the 2nd spot on lap 18 but McMahan was no match. The only serious challenge anybody was able to offer was on a late restart when Mitchell was able to pull to McMahan’s inside but fell in line off 2. McMahan with the win, King 2nd, Tallent comes home 3rd.

Classic
The ultra-competitive Classics were on the speedway next, with Philip Shockley making his return to 411, on the pole. Marvin Ray would make up the outside front row. Shockley would lead lap 1 but Ray would claim the race lead on lap 2. On lap 9, Shockley would spin his machine out while running 3rd. Adam Engel would then claim the 3rd spot. On lap 12, Ray would surrender the lead to Logan dukes, and lose a spot every lap for the next 3 laps, fading to the 4th spot. Engel would take 2nd on lap 13 and attempt to run down Dukes, but just didn’t have enough car for the night. Dukes wins, Engel 2nd, and 3rd went to Bart Baxter.

Topless Modified
In Topless Mods action, Mike Lewis was riding a 5-race win streak, where he would attempt to continue it. Keith Gregory and Ronnie King would make up the front row. They’d run 1-2 until lap 8 when M. Lewis would take the 2nd spot. He would try to run down race leader Gregory for the remainder of the event, but he could only get as close as a couple car lengths as Gregory snaps the win streak, and his personal winless streak, with M. Lewis in 2nd and King 3rd.

Street Stock
Jonathan Sims and Bradly Lewelling made up the front row for the Street Stocks, and this one was a barn burner! Lewelling wasted no time taking the race lead from the get-go. Dale Watson slid into the 2nd spot on the start, but behind them, Jason Ogle was making his run through the field. Ogle started 6th but was already up to 3rd by lap four. Lewelling would begin to show tire smoke on lap 6, when the inevitable happened; Lewelling lost a turn in turns 3 and 4 on lap 10. His machine would mysteriously, and briefly, catch fire, ending his night. Dale Watson would inherit the lead, but on lap 11, the "popcorn" popped, as Jason "Popcorn" Ogle would snatch the race lead and never look back, picking up his first win of the season, snapping his winless streak, and his string of bad luck for the 2011 season. Watson 2nd and 3rd went to Sims.

Super Truck
Next up was the main event, the Super Truck Shootout! Robbie Comer would set fast time (16.422), with Cory Cate (16.740) on his outside. Cate would take the lead from the start and show the way over Comer until lap 13 when bad luck would strike Cate yet again, ending his night as he pulled off the speedway. Comer would take the 25-lap win over Clyde Stanton, who was a long way behind, and Rocky Ogle came home 3rd.

Late Model – B-Main
In B-Main action, we saw Andy Ogle leading the field around the speedway for the first 2 circuits, when Dennis Shepherd would spin in turn 4 while running 2nd. Ruben Mayfield slid into the 2nd spot at that point. Ogle picks up the win, Mayfield takes 2nd, those two automatically transfer. Jimmy Calloway and Kenny Ford came home 3rd and 4th, respectively, and elected to take the money, so we’ll have an 18 car field for the late models.

Late Model – A-Main
Next out on the speedway was the Late Models, and Jason Cardwell would start on the pole (14.430), with Brad Lowe (14.649) on his outside. Cardwell would show the way over Lowe and Josh Collins, driving the #J16 for the night. Action was heating up all through the field as our internet viewers witnessed some of the 3-wide action through the night. Cardwell would lead through lap 23, until he would start slowing after contact with a lapper. Lowe would inherit the lead. On lap 25, Cardwell would drive to the outside wall in turn 1 to pull off the speedway, however, several cars at the rear of the field didn’t get the memo, as they were already racing 3-wide. As those cars caught Cardwell, it was then 4-wide in turn 2, which didn’t work out. Heath Alvey, Ruben Mayfield, and Layne Clifton were involved in the incident, with Clifton getting on 2 wheels for a moment. Unfortunately for Clifton, he would suffer a broken arm in the incident, sidelining him for the next 6-8 weeks. It was Clifton’s second hard crash in two weeks, as he hurt his wrist in a crash just the week before. Lowe takes home the win through 2 more restarts. Collins takes 2nd and 3rd goes to Pierce McCarter.

Mini-Stock
In Mini-Stock action, Shawn Henry and Chris Brady made up the front row. Brady made off with the lead until surrendering it on lap 3. Henry then cruised to the win over Brady. By the end of the feature, Henry and Brady were the only two on the lead lap. Sam Burgess gets 3rd. In post-race tech, the top 4 were checked out and were cleared, so the results stand.
