RACE NIGHT RECAP

Mod-Mini
In Mod-Mini action, we saw Brad Pressley start on the pole, but Rocky McNabb took his machine to the high side and took over the race lead in turn 1. However, on lap 3, McNabb would spin his machine out in turn 4 to bring out the Ujunkdit Caution. McNabb would look to make a charge back to the front from the rear, but a handful of laps later that charge was cut short as he smacked the turns 1 and 2 wall. McNabb would pull off, while the remainder of the field jockeyed for position. In the end, Pressley would claim the checkers, followed by Cindy Poore and Josh Ellis. Nick Perry would have trouble from the very get go, as his machine briefly caught fire. The fire was extinguished, where Perry would run the first few laps, but slowed and coasted off the speedway a few laps later. Pressley would then begin to step away with each lap, while 2nd on back would battle it out, with Cindy Poore finally coming home in 2nd, and 3rd went to Josh Ellis.

Topless Modified
The Topless Modified division is a still-growing division at 411 Motor Speedway. With 9 cars in the house, the action in Topless was sure to not disappoint! Polesitter Mike Lewis would jump out to the early lead, but he would be stalked by young Layne Clifton for the first handful of laps. Marvin Romines and Keith Gregory would run the next 2 spots, as the top 4 were double file on a couple of occasions. By around lap 7 or so, Gregory would pull off the speedway with fluid spewing from his machine, ending his charge to the front. A few laps later, Clifton and Lewis would run side-by-side for the next several laps. Finally, Clifton would pull away with the lead through the remaining laps. But, not so fast! Clifton, while working on putting a lap on Marvin Romines, would dive hard into turn 1 on the final lap, and lose control of his machine. Clifton would do a spinning 360 in turn 2, motor up down the backstretch, and maintain the race lead as the race stayed green. Clifton would pick up the Spin & Win, with Mike Lewis in 2nd, and rounding out the top 3 was Ronnie King.

Street Stock
As announced earlier in the evening, just prior to the Street Stock feature, the Street Stocks were lined up on the frontstretch. As each driver was introduced, the fans were able to vote, via their voice, on the best appearing Street Stock. After all the drivers were introduced, it was determined that the fans got the loudest for Phil Davis, and I’m On It Motorsports gave Davis $100 and a trophy! Fast-forward to feature time, we saw a battle between Davis and Raymond Shepard. The lead was swapped through several cautions. Eventually, Travis Reno would work his way up to make it a 3-way battle. Davis held serve throughout much of the feature, but Reno would start flexing his muscle. By 2 laps to go, Reno was all over the rear bumper of Davis. However, when the white flag was shown, both drivers got up on the wheel. In turn 1, Reno dove inside Davis, until heavy contact with Davis would send Reno hard into the outside wall. Davis would also get damage in the melee, where both drivers would retire from the feature. This handed the lead over to Tracy Wolfe. Jon Cook, who was strong much of the night, would give Wolfe a run for his money down into turn 1 on the 1-lap shootout, but out of turn 2, Wolfe would hit the afterburner, and claim his first-ever feature win!

Classic
The Classic division is normally a tight battle, and a very competitive division. Saturday night was no exception. Heat race winner Adam Engel would quickly jump to the feature lead. First up to challenge was Logan Dukes. Dukes would make several advances, but as far as he could get his front tires was to the number on the driver side door. After a handfull of advances, Dukes’ night would come to a sparking end as his machine would shower some sparks, and he would pull off the speedway. This would then give the 2nd spot to Marvin Ray, where he would stalk Engel for the remainder of the feature, where he took a peek on the inside of Engel off turn 4 coming to the checkers, but this one was all Adam Engel. Marvin Ray crossed in the 2nd spot, while Phil Blackford came home in 3rd.

Super Truck
In Super Truck action, we would see the return of the “Purple Truck Eater” Robbie Comer. Freddy Hillard led the field to the green, but Robert Martin would be hot on his heels. Martin would make several attempts to work his way around Freddy Hillard, but couldn’t complete the pass. Throughout the remainder of the feature, Freddy Hillard would hold off several advances from Martin, while Martin tried to hold back Comer, until around 5 laps to go, when going into turn 3, a big puff of smoke billowed from the #74 truck of Freddy Hillard, and his truck quickly did a U-turn. Freddy Hillard’s driveshaft could be seen rolling down the track, while Rocky Ogle came around the speedway and had a flat tire after he ran over the transmission from the Freddy Hillard machine. This gave the race lead to Robert Martin, where he’d hold on and take the checkers, with Robbie Comer coming in 2nd, and Steve Hillard rounding out your top 3.

Late Model
The Late Model division is always ultra competitive, and Saturday night was no exception! Through qualifying and the Hoosier Dash, hometown boy Ryan King would find himself on the pole for the 30-lap affair. Being the Polesitter, Ryan King elected to take the high line. Joining him on the front row was young Chase King. Ryan King would quickly steal the lead heading into turn 1, however, he would quickly spin out in front of the field. All of the late model drivers took evasive action, and with no more than a couple wrinkled fenders, nobody had serious damage. By rule, the field was lined back up, and we tried again. This time, Ryan King took it a little easier in turn 1, as Chase King pulled away off turn 2 with the race lead. Throughout a lot of the feature, we saw Chase King hold off the advances of Ryan King. Eventually, 2010 champ Josh Collins would work his way to make it a 3-way battle for the lead. Several times, we’d witness the top 3 battling 3-wide for the race lead. Eventually, Collins would finally pull away with the race win, but the action was just getting started behind him. Josh Yoder, Jason Cardwell, and Gusty Christenberry were all charging forward, until Yoder would finally roll in too hard into turn 1, running over Chase King, who had faded back to about the 4th spot at that time. Yoder and Cardwell would get the worst end of the stick, ending both of their nights, with Yoder seeming to not have a straight panel on his machine. After the dust had all finally settled, Collins claimed the checkers, Ryan King came home in 2nd, and Christenberry charged his way up into the 3rd spot. Pierce McCarter set the fast time earlier in the evening, rolled a 4 on the wheel, which inverted the top 4 for the Hoosier Dash, where Chase King led the field to the green, but Ryan King took the win in the dash.

Mini-Stock
In the Mini-Stock feature, it was certainly the most intense battle for the lead, as Tommy Metler and James Mitchell would swap the lead, running single file for only about 5 laps in total. Mitchell and Metler would swap the lead all other times, while Sam Burgess and Paul Burchfield would begin to race side-by-side as well, and they would close in on the top 2, but finally, with only a couple laps remaining, Mitchell would reclaim the lead for the final time. Metler would come home in the 2nd spot, with Burchfield rounding out your top 3.

Mini-Late Model
Due to the rain, the new Mini-Late Model track couldn’t be used, so the youngsters were front and center on the frontstretch, doing battle on their “backup track”. Young Braxton McFalls quickly jumped away with the race lead, with Blake Neeley in tow. At the end of 5 laps, McFalls had about a 10 kart length lead over Neeley.
