Official Results & Recap: October 23rd, 2010

Green flag back in the air here, and McNabb fires away from turn 4. Berkley follows suit, with Berkley all over the rear of McNabb, but now Perry looks to the inside of Berkley for the 3rd spot as the field has to take evasive action with #12 pulling off in turn 2, but no harm. McNabb still your leader, Berkley in 2nd, Perry still in 3rd. Joey Allen in the 4th spot. McNabb still well in command in this one, as Perry and Berkley lean on each other, Berkley wrestles the 2nd spot away, but as Berkley plays games with Perry, they’ll both get passed, give Allen the 2nd spot now, as we complete lap 12. Perry now finally gets a run on Berkley here with 4 laps remaining, but Berkley has a strong car right now, a lap later, same thing, as they’re all chasing McNabb. Off turn 4, 2 laps remain as McNabb has some heavy traffic, but he’ll make it around the lappers. Checkers in the air, McNabb with the win, Allen takes 2nd, and Berkley in 3rd.

Green flag in the air again, Clifton powers with the lead off turn 2. Gregory in 2nd, as Wayne James is now in 3rd. Give the 3rd spot to Mark King. Johnny Ridings and Marvin Romines looking for room around James, Ridings gets a little wide in turn 4, but it’s all Clifton, but caution will fly as Romines spins in turn 3, he’ll collect Curtis Thomas as well, and we’re under caution here on lap 3.

Green flag back in the air, Clifton powers away with the lead, Gregory had to lift to keep from running into the rear of Clifton, and Clifton gets a big jump on that start. Clifton in the lead, Gregory in 2nd, King in 3rd, Ridings now in 4th, but caution will fly as James chucks a driveshaft in turn 1, and 5 laps are in the books.

Green flag back in the air, Clifton powers with the lead, Gregory trying to keep close, but Clifton definitely has a motor tonight. King rides in 3rd, as Ridings is in 4th, looking for room around King, as 7 laps are in the books. Gregory showing a little smoke on entry into the corners, but he isn’t slowing much. Clifton your leader at halfway, Gregory in 2nd, King still in 3rd. Caution flies here on lap 12 as Thomas spins in turn 3.

Green flag in the air one more time. Gregory looks to the inside of Clifton on the start, but that doesn’t do much good. Gregory moving his line down, but the line is up high. Clifton in the lead, but caution flies here as Thomas again spins in turn 1 here on lap 13.

Green flag back in the air, Freddy and Cate lead into turn 1. Cate looking inside, but now caution flies here as Huston loses a wheel.

Green flag back in the air. Freddy powers with the lead here, Cate takes a look again for the lead, but nothing doing. Freddy still in command, Cate in 2nd. Cate still looking for room around Freddy. Now Steve starts closing in, but now Cate pulls into the lead with the white flag in the air. Freddy on the inside, Cate powers away off turn 2. Freddy tries to lean on Cate, but Cate takes the win.

Green flag back in the air, England again doesn’t get going, and McLemore and Quinn Bender take over the top 2 spots, as Johnson is in 3rd, but he leans on Bender, falls back in line in 3rd. England leans on Johnson. Now England cuts a tire here, but we’ll stay green. McLemore still the leader, Bender in 2nd, Johnson in 3rd. Caution flies here on lap 5 as Tony Spoon spins in turn 3.

Green flag back in the air one more time. McLemore powers off with the lead once more, Bender in 2nd, with Johnson in 3rd. Johnson keeps leaning on Bender, but caution flies as Chris Nix spins down the backstretch.

Green flag back in the air, McLemore powers away with the lead, Johnson looking inside for the 2nd spot, he’ll make light contact with Bender, and he’ll pull back in line. Meanwhile Michael Lewelling looks to make a run, but he’s racing for no money as it was discovered he has an aftermarket transmission, but now Johnson finally runs through Bender after trying for several laps, and caution flies here on lap 10.

Green flag back in the air in this one, McLemore charges away with the lead once again, with Larry Rudd lining up in the 2nd spot, with #7 in the 3rd spot. McLemore continues to dominate, Rudd in 2nd, but caution flies here on lap 12 for debris in turn 2.

Green flag in the air, time shortens this one to 15 laps, McLemore powers away with the lead, now Bender powers outside and snatches the lead from Rudd, now Johnson powers back into the 3rd spot with the white flag in the air. Johnson all over the rear of Bender, he backs off going into turn 3, checkers in the air, McLemore wins, Bender in 2nd, and Johnson takes 3rd.

Green flag back in the air, Sands and Eubanks will try this one one more time. Sands slides up and into the lead off turn 2. Eubanks in 2nd, Adam Engel in 3rd. Engel has to stab the brakes to keep from hitting Eubanks, and Eubanks takes a look for the lead. Engel in the 3rd spot here as we complete lap 2. Eubanks looking for the lead, but Sands powers away off turn 2 with the lead once again. Eubanks in 2nd, Engel a close 3rd. Eubanks looks for room down the backstretch, Eubanks powers inside, give him the lap 5 lead. Eubanks stabs the brakes again, Engel has to jump on them, and now there’s running room for the top 2. Sands and Eubanks side by side, Sands leads lap 7 and 8, while Eubanks is looking inside once again off turn 4, he’ll get sideways, Sands keeps the lead. Engel in 3rd, now Eubanks stalking Sands one more time. 10 laps down, 10 to go. Eubanks biding his time, as Engel is beginning to close in. Eubanks down low, Sands up high, but Sands has a strong machine tonight. Throw a blanket over the top 3 right now. Eubanks looks inside for the lead once again, but Sands rockets away off turn 2. Engel looking for room inside Eubanks, as the action is picking up. Eubanks battling for the lead once again as they sail into turn 3. Off turn 4, Eubanks looks for the lead, but Sands with the lead. Engel on the outside of Eubanks, off turn 4, Eubanks keeps the 2nd spot, but Engel is coming. Now Eubanks pulls up and cuts off Engel for the 2nd spot. Sands the leader, Eubanks in 2nd, Engel in 3rd. Eubanks looks inside for the lead, he’ll sail into turn 3, but Eubanks has trouble. White flag in the air. Engel POWERS outside Eubanks for the 2nd spot, but he won’t be able to run down Sands. Sands wins, Engel takes 2nd, and Eubanks brings home 3rd.

Green flag in the air one more time, we’ll try again. Giffin and Crabtree power away, but Crabtree jumps the start, and caution flies quick, and now we’re 4 wide under caution!

Green flag back in the air, Giffin and Crabtree stand on it. Crabtree gets the jump off turn 2 though, Giffin in 2nd. Crabtree leads lap 1. Giffin in 2nd, King in 3rd. Track Champion Josh Collins looking for room around the 10th spot on Mark Vineyard, while Crabtree and the top 5 are single file. Greg Martin looking inside of Pierce McCarter for the spot, give the spot to Martin. Now he sets his sights on Mark Leach. King now inside for the 2nd spot on Giffin, but nothing doing. Vineyard now looking inside Pierce McCarter for the position, that’s a battle for about the 10th spot. Collins not having a very good run so far, but still a long way to go in this one. Crabtree in the lead, Giffin in 2nd, King in 3rd , Rusty Ballenger in 4th. The field has gotten somewhat single file now. Eric Tipton inside Jason Welshan for position. Meanwhile, Martin has made the pass on Leach, now he sets his sights on Brad Lowe for the 5th spot. Crabtree meanwhile still your leader, Giffin in 2nd, but caution flies here on lap 10 as Pierce McCarter spins in turn 3 and 4.

Green flag back in the air, 40 laps remain! Crabtree powers away, Giffin in 2nd, King in 3rd. Lowe now charges into the 4th spot, but caution flies as Pierce McCarter spins in turn 4 here on lap 11.

Green flag in the air one more time. Crabtree powers away with the lead, Giffin in 2nd. But caution flies here as Jason Trammel, Barrett Terry, Mack McCarter, and Heath Alvey all pile into each other in turn 1. Trammel got sideways on the inside of Terry, and got loose and spun his machine. Trammel is done for the night.

Green flag back in the air on the field. Crabtree powers away with the lead, Giffin remains 2nd, with King in 3rd. Lowe in the 4th spot. Martin looking on the inside of Ballenger for the 5th spot, Martin falls in line. Ballenger and Lowe are battling, and Cardwell has handling issues and Collins powers around Cardwell. Now Vineyard and Martin make contact off turn 4, but we’ll stay green. Crabtree now under fire from Giffin from behind, with King right behind both of them. Lapped traffic about to become a factor in just a few laps. Lowe almost slams the wall, but now Giffin is all over Crabtree for the lead here as we complete lap 20. Crabtree running the low line as some lapped traffic is coming up, and Giffin continues to chase Crabtree. Caution flies here on lap 21 as Cardwell has broke, and we’ll be back under green shortly.

Green flag back in the air for the O‘Reilly Steel Head Championship! They’ll thunder into turn 1, Crabtree the leader, Giffin and King follow suit. Lowe looking outside Ballenger into turn 3, but he’ll fall back in line. Martin now on the inside of Lowe, he gets loose, and now we see Greg Husky get up on 2 wheels in turn 1, but no harm yet. King gets a nice run into turn 1, but gets on the binders before getting into Giffin, as Crabtree still leads the way. But now suddenly, Crabtree has slowed off turn 4! Giffin will make contact with Crabtree as Crabtree tried to get out of the way, had no idea Giffin was inside, but Giffin doesn’t seem to have much damage, but we’ll stay green for now. Giffin now the race leader, he’ll take the lead here on lap 25! Crabtree now slowing to a crawl, and Alvey spins in turn 1. Caution will fly for Crabtree here on lap 25.

Green flag back in the air. Giffin powers out of turn 4 with the lead, King and Ballenger now 2nd and 3rd. Martin looks inside for position on Lowe, off turn 4, he’ll complete the pass. Martin has a great car tonight, as he’s picking them off one at a time as we’re just past halfway. Giffin the leader, King in 2nd, Ballenger and Martin 3rd and 4th. Vineyard now makes his way around Lowe for position, but caution flies here as Pierce McCarter spins in turn 1.

Green flag back in the air, 28 laps in, 22 remain in this one. Anything can still happen folks. Giffin powers away with the lead, King and Ballenger in tow, but Martin and Vineyard are hot on his heels, and battle still rages for the 3rd spot. Martin takes over the 3rd spot, but caution flies as Alvey spins in turn 4.

Green flag in the air one more time. 30 laps down, 20 remain in this one! Giffin powers away with the lead, King in 2nd, Martin now in 3rd, Vineyard now powers to the outside of Ballenger, Ballenger gets loose, give Vineyard the 4th spot. Meanwhile, up front, King is looking for pull off an upset of the century here! Giffin in the lead, King in 2nd, Martin in 3rd, Vineyard 4th. Ballenger now pulls inside Vineyard, and now Ballenger reclaims the 4th spot as the top 3 have checked out slightly. 34 laps complete, Giffin your leader, King in 2nd, Martin in 3rd. Huskey is looking for room around Welshan, while the field has stretched out and gotten a little more tame here. 36 laps complete, 14 remain. Ballenger now looking inside for 3rd on Martin, as Martin as slowed up to the field behind. They start bottle necking, Vineyard has nowhere to go, now Lowe looks inside, but caution flies here on lap 40 as Welshan stalls in turn 4. Martin has a flat right-rear, which would explain why he slowed up the last few laps.

Green flag back in the air, 10 laps remain in this one, and it is sure to be a barnburner! Giffin powers away with the lead once more, King follows in his tire tracks, does anyone have anything for Giffin? King looks inside for the lead off turn 2, but now we have a battle for the lead. King looks inside for the lead, he’ll keep battling, but caution flies here on lap 42 as Vineyard has a flat left-rear and slows to a crawl. Giffin still the race leader, King showed his muscle there on the restart, does he have anything left?

Green flag in the air, Huskey has a problem, this might get interesting. Giffin charges with the lead, King looks inside, smoke from the Huskey machine. Giffin hangs onto the 2nd spot. King charges for the lead, makes a mistake, drives a little too hard into turn 3, almost runs into the rear of Giffin, now he’ll fall off the lead with only 5 laps remaining. Giffin or King are 5 laps away from the checkers! King has ran down Giffin for the lead once more with 4 laps remaining. 3 to go, Giffin the leader, King in 2nd, looking and trying everything he can. Collins now charges into the 3rd spot with 3 laps remaining. White flag in the air, Giffin one lap away from $2,500! King in 2nd, Collins in 3rd. CHECKERS IN THE AIR! Bobby Giffin bags the $2,500 check, with Ryan King coming home in 2nd, Josh Collins crosses the line 3rd, with Rusty Ballenger 4th, and 5th will go to Brad Lowe.

Following the feature, King would protest Giffin, and with Giffin refusing to tear down, and following post-race tech inspection, the OFFICIAL 2010 O’Reilly Steel Head Champion is…Seymour, TN’s Ryan King!

Green flag back in the air, Yoder charges off with the lead, but the battle rages for 2nd, but Ford gets stuffed head-on into the turn 1 wall, and we’ll be under caution that quick.

Green flag back in the air, lets try this again. Yoder off with the lead, Ogle remains 2nd. Manley now takes 3rd but he’s under fire from Mayfield. Yoder still in the lead, Ogle in 2nd, Manley in 3rd, 9 laps down, 6 remain. Yoder well in command in this one, Ogle in 2nd, with a hard-charging Manley in 3rd. He’s running down Ogle little by little, but he only has 4 laps remaining if he wants to do anything. Mayfield now closing in on Manley with 3 laps remaining. Checkers in the air, Yoder takes the win, Ogle comes home 2nd, and 3rd will go to Manley!
