Official Results & Recap: September 25th, 2010

Green flag back in the air, Lewis off with the lead, Gregory back on the throttle again, and now James almost spins off turn 4, Gregory flies around the outside for position, but back up front, Lewis still your leader, Clifton in 2nd, Marvin Romines in 3rd, and Johnny Ridings in 4th. Lewis and Clifton are stretching it out now as we complete lap 5, while most of the guys are single file, but now trouble for the 2nd place man, Clifton slows in turn 1, he pulls into the infield off turn 2, now Romines is in 2nd. Ridings gets loose off turn 4, he’s in 3rd. 4th is points leader Josh Driskill and 5th now is Gregory. These guys are setting a blistering pace as we have 8 laps in the books. But now Gregory slows off turn 4, he’ll coast into the infield and retire from the event as well. However, Lewis is way out in front, and now Ridings is looking for the 2nd spot, but Romines gets sideways off turn 4, Ridings makes heavy contact, he’ll ricochet into the turn 4 wall after the two made contact, and Riding’s night is unfortunately done as well. A hard charge for a possible win ends in disaster in turn 4, and we‘ll be under caution.

Green flag back in the air, Lewis powers off turn 4, Driskill in 2nd, James in 3rd and Romines rounds out the field. But Romines spins in turn 1 on lap 14, and caution flies.

Green flag back in the air one more time, Lewis in command, Driskill in 2nd, James in 3rd, and Romines still rounds out the field. Checkers in the air, Lewis takes the win, Driskill brings it home in 2nd, and James brings home 3rd.

With Ronnie King not being present, Josh Driskill is the 2010 411 Motor Speedway Track Champion for the Topless Modified division!

Green flag back in the air for the trucks, but Hillard starts in turn 3, and caution flies one more time. Green flag back in the air, Hillard in the lead, Cate on the inside for the 2nd spot, give Cate the 2nd spot. 2010 points champion Robbie Comer riding in 4th, he’s biding his time right now as he tries to run down Martin for the 3rd spot, but now Cate is starting to get wild, he’s swinging his truck wide off the corners, looking for any kind of grip he can get to run down the leader. Hillard has trouble getting around the lapped truck of Fred Romines. Cate powers to the inside of Hillard, but Cate makes contact with Hillard and spins in turn 4, and caution flies here on lap 5. Hillard well in command right now.

Green flag in the air for the trucks one more time, Hillard fires off turn 4, he’ll keep the lead, but Martin wants a piece of it, he’ll get to the bumper off turn 2, but Hillard starts driving into the sunset. Comer now looking for 2nd. Cate now powers to the inside of Comer, Comer slows and pulls off, and now just like that, 3 laps later, Cate is right back in 2nd, needing another caution to get him to the rear of Hillard. 10 laps down, 10 to go. Hillard well in command, and now Chris Shepherd spins in turn 2, and caution flies on lap 11.

Green flag in the air one more time. Cate all over the bumper of Hillard, he wants this race win. Cate trying hard to take the win in this one, but he’s in 2nd. Cate gets loose off turn 2, he’ll fishtail and give up the 2nd spot to Robert Martin. Hillard well in control of this one, he’s got a half straightaway on the 2nd place truck. Martin and Cate pass by a couple lapped trucks, and checkers are in the air, Hillard wins, Martin takes 2nd, and Cate takes 3rd.

Green flag back in the air on the street stocks, Blanken in the lead, Davis in 2nd, Tony Lindsey in 3rd. Jeff McLemore starting to pick more cars off, now he’s in a nest of hornets as some guys are beating and banging, and we now have 10 laps in the books. McLemore now in the 5th spot, he’s making a nice run toward the front. Dave Smith now in the 3rd spot, McLemore in 4th, and now Strickland spins in turn 2 and caution flies here on lap 12.

Green flag back in the air one more time, Davis all over the rear of Blanken, but he won’t have anything again, at least yet. McLemore pouncing on Smith, give the 3rd spot to McLemore. Only a couple more cars for McLemore, but would he have anything for Blanken? McLemore charging for the 2nd spot, he’s on the inside for the 2nd spot here on lap 15, but he’ll fall back in line. Blanken way out in front of this one, Davis in 2nd, and McLemore in 3rd, now give the 2nd spot to “Big Mac“! Davis gets it up on 2 wheels trying to turn back under McLemore, but he’ll fall into the 3rd spot. Checkers in the air Blanken takes the win, 2nd goes to McLemore and Davis takes 3rd.

Following post-race tech inspection, the entire top 3 finishers were disqualified, handing the win to 4th-place finisher Smith. Lindsey and Atkins round out the new top 3 finishers.

Green flag in the air, we’ll try this again. Sands takes the lead off turn 2, Sims in 2nd, while Logan Dukes wrangles 3rd. Kennedy, Dukes, and Sands are drafting here it appears, as they’re looking to freight-train Sims on the high side, but Sims isn’t giving up. Sims gets loose in turn 4, he’ll wash up and into Dukes, and he about spins in turn 2, but now Kennedy avoids contact with Sims and Kennedy spins in turn 2 to bring out the caution here on lap 5.

Green flag back out, Sands in the lead, Dukes in 2nd, Marvin Ray now in 3rd. 6 laps in the books, Sands still the leader, Dukes is right there, Ray is right there as well. Dukes trying everything to get around Sands, he’ll look outside in turn 3, off turn 4, Sands gives him the room, and now Dukes flashes into the lead and he’ll lead lap 9. Ray in tow to claim 2nd, with Sands in 3rd. Sims now looking for the 5th spot on points leader Andy Ogle. Dukes in command, Ray in 2nd, Sands in 3rd, they’re all chasing Dukes here on lap 10. Caution flies here on lap 13 as Bart Baxter and Adam Engel spins in turn 3.

Green flag back in the air one more time, 7 laps remain. Sands still all over Dukes for the lead, but Dukes drives away a little while Kennedy challenges Sands for the 2nd spot here on lap 14. Checkers in the air, Dukes wins, Kennedy takes 2nd off turn 4, Sands comes home 3rd.

Green flag back in the air, but we have a jumper, and we’ll be under caution one more time. Green flag back in the air for the Late Models, Crabtree fires off turn 4, Giffin in tow, Sexton running 3rd, but here comes 2010 points champion Josh Collins. Nothing new here, he’s on the high side and handsome tonight, he’s running down Sexton for the 3rd spot, but now Sexton pulls inside to take the 2nd spot from Giffin, but Giffin gets the run. Meanwhile, Barrett Terry is on the outside of Chase King, he completes the pass, he’s got a good handle too as he’s running down a few front runners, but now Sexton powers inside Giffin for the 2nd spot, he’ll cut Giffin off, Giffin avoids catastrophe and rolls to a stop in turn 1 and we‘ll be under caution.

Green flag back in the air, Crabtree still in command, Sexton in 2nd, Collins in 3rd, and Brad Lowe is coming, He’s on the spoiler of Collins, he’ll power inside, give 3rd to Lowe, he’ll drift up in front of Crabtree, but now Lowe loses the handle and smacks the turn 2 wall, as we have 11 laps in the books. Lowe still in 3rd, but he’s fallen off from the lead duo. 2009 champion Jason Cardwell on the inside of Josh Henry, he’ll fall in line off turn 2. Crabtree dominant tonight as Sexton is looking for room, but now Lowe slows off turn 2, with smoke showing, and caution flies here on lap 16. And now trouble for Cardwell, his machine showing some smoke, and both drivers will retire from the event.

Green flag in the air one more time with 14 laps remaining. Crabtree off turn 4, he’s hard on the throttle and so is the rest of the field. Sexton trying everything he can to catch Crabtree, don’t think anybody has anything for him, and now Collins powers into the 2nd spot, maybe he has something for “Crabdaddy“! Collins is the master at late-race charges, so we’ll see what Collins has in store for the finish of this one. Crabtree the leader with 10 laps remaining, but Collins is coming. He’s running the low line now and closing the gap for the lead, Crabtree better find some extra speed in this one. Scott Gardner now challenging for the 3rd spot, as Collins powers to the inside in turn 3 for the lead, he’ll get on the binders and avoid spinning Crabtree, and try to make the run one more time. Down the backstretch, he’s inside again, he’ll look inside, Crabtree throws the block, Collins throws the punt, and Crabtree goes for another spin, and by rule, again, Crabtree retains the lead, and with only 7 laps remaining, caution will fly, and Collins will pull into the pit area instead of tearing his machine up this late in the feature.

Green flag back out on the field, Crabtree still in command, Sexton now powers looking for the lead, but caution flies as Brian Hooks, Freddy Hillard, and Danny Floyd get together out of turn 4.

Green flag in the air one more time, 7 laps still remain. Crabtree mashes the throttle through the firewall, Sexton falls in 2nd off turn 2, but here comes Gardner. Sexton powers to the outside, he wants the race lead, and now give Sexton the lead with 6 laps remaining!! Crabtree in 2nd, Rusty Ballenger now powers into the 3rd spot, but caution flies here on lap 25 as Ryan King and Josh Henry get together in turns 3 and 4.

Green flag in the air one more time, 5 laps remaining in this one. Sexton on the throttle, now Crabtree hopes for a mistake. Gardner in 3rd, 4 circuits remain. Ballenger picking up where he left off, he wants the 3rd spot from Gardner once again, but don’t look now, Terry wants a piece of the action. But the checkers are in the air, Sexton takes the win, Crabtree slows off turn 4 but crosses the line in 2nd anyway, and Gardner takes 3rd.

Green flag back out, Stanton and Hooks lead them into turn 1, and off turn 4, Hooks wants the lead, he makes contact with Stanton, he’ll fall in 2nd. Brent Hensley now in 3rd with Calloway in the 4th and final transfer spot, he’ll get loose off turn 2, give the 4th spot to Freddy Romines. Stanton and Hooks battling this one out, Stanton leads lap 1, and they’ll continue side-by-side. So far, Stanton has led every lap, but now Hooks leads lap 4. Hooks off turn 2, he’s still trying to get the lead, and Hooks takes it. Stanton in 2nd, but the checkers are in the air, Hooks takes the B-Main, Stanton in 2nd, 3rd goes to Hensley, who spins in turn 2 after the checkers, and Romines takes 4th.
