RACE NIGHT RECAP

Mod-Mini
Green flag in the air for the Mod-Mini’s, a nice field of cars this evening, so it should be a good race! Chuck McMahan and Tim Ladd lead them into turn 1, but caution flies quickly as Nick Perry spins in turn 1, and Dave Lewis has nowhere to go and hits him, complete restart coming up.

Green flag back in the air here, and Ladd quickly takes over the lead, but Perry is having handling issues tonight, he’ll bring out our 2nd caution in turn 2, but we have a complete lap in the books.

Green flag back in the air on the field, Ladd fires off turn 4 with Terry Poore and Brian Berkley in tow. McMahan is challenging for the 3rd spot, but here comes Greg Henderson, he wants a piece of the action, Henderson takes over the 4th spot and is looking for more, he’s on the bumper of Berkley, Berkley gets sideways, and Henderson backs off to give him the room, while Ladd and Poore have opened it up on the field, but Todd Spivey spins in turn 4 on lap 5, our 3rd caution.

Green flag back in the air, Ladd fires off turn 4, Poore looking for room, he’ll stay glued to the bumper off turn 2, while Henderson is working on room around Berkley, as 7 laps are complete. Henderson finally takes the 3rd spot. The field has stretched out from one another, as 12 laps are complete. Ladd your leader, Poore in 2nd, Henderson 3rd, McMahan in 4th and rounding out the field is Spivey, but Spivey is all over the machine of McMahan, as Berkley and everyone else has pulled off the track. Checkers in the air, Ladd wins, Poore 2nd, and Henderson 3rd.

Gregory stalking the back bumper of Clifton, it’s been a while since he visited victory lane, but he still has a little work left to do to visit tonight. Driskill finally gets around Ridings, that battle lasted several laps, as we complete lap 6. Gregory not far from Clifton as they exit turn 4, lapped traffic could play a factor soon, as Ridings is off the pace, he’ll exit the speedway just in front of the leaders. Clifton and Gregory’s machine both look to be equal tonight, as they complete lap 10. Clifton now creating himself some breathing room over Gregory as they complete lap 12. Gregory seems to have closed the gap, but lapped traffic factors in, Gregory has to jump off the throttle, and that’ll be the nail in the coffin, as Clifton drives off win the checkers in the air a couple laps later, Gregory takes 2nd with Ronnie King in 3rd.

Green flag back in the air, Ogle the leader, Cate in 2nd, but here comes points leader Robbie Comer and Stanton, they’re both on the charge, they both started in the back, they both want to win. Comer takes over the 2nd spot as Cate gets loose, Stanton almost drills him, and we are 3 laps into this race. Ogle still smoking the field, but caution flies here as Shepherd spins in turn 2.

Reno looking for room around Dave Smith, looks inside going into turn 3, Smith gets sideways, give the 5th spot to Reno. He now has his sights set on Quinn Bender for the 4th spot off turn 4. Caution flies here on lap 10 for debris.

Shepard still your leader here as we complete 12 laps. Davis starting to close the gap on Shepard, but so far, nothing doing. Reno and Bender are starting to close the gap as we complete 15 laps. Late Models
Green flag in the air for the late models. Barrett Terry and points leader Josh Collins lead the field into turn 1, Collins powers into the lead off turn 2 with Bobby Giffin and Terry battling it out for 2nd. Ryan King in 3rd and Jason Cardwell in 4th, as Robby Moses spins in turn 3, and caution flies here on lap 1.

Green flag in the air one more time on the field, Collins powers away with the lead once again, Terry on his bumper with Giffin in 3rd, as Chase King spins on the frontstretch, and caution flies again.

Collins powers away with the lead once again, Terry within striking distance, with Giffin in the 3rd spot. The field has pretty much gotten single file now, as the top 6 or 8 cars are single file , with some side-by-side action from that point on. 5 laps are in the books, the action is pretty tame right now, Brent Hensley is falling back a little bit, as Collins and Terry have opened the lead up a little bit, as they’ll soon face lapped traffic. Collins battles lapped traffic, he’ll put Herb Garner a lap down, but that helps Terry close the gap a little more, as they start closing in on even more lap traffic. Hensley and Freddy Romines are in the crosshairs of Collins, Collins moves up high to put a lap on a few guys, and now Terry moves inside and uses a lapped car as a pick, but Collins has none of that, Collins powers through the middle, 3 wide, and reclaim the lead just like that in turn 3! That’s why Collins is nicknamed “Superman”! Collins still your leader, they are still in lapped traffic, but it’s starting to thin out as we complete lap 15. Collins working the high line tonight, it’s definitely working, as he keeps moving the line up higher and higher, and he’s opened the gap on Terry now by about 8 car lengths here as more lapped traffic is coming into play, Collins keeps running his line up higher, almost gets the wall that time, as 21 laps are in the books. Collins now has only a car length on Terry, as Terry is starting to come alive here with only 7 laps remaining. Collins trying to get around Danny Floyd, he finally looks down low, and here comes Terry, Terry looks inside for the lead, Collins doesn’t give him any room, and Terry will spin himself in turn 3, caution will fly, and Terry will fall to the rear.

Green flag in the air, 6 laps remaining for Collins. He’ll power off turn 4, Giffin in 2nd, but caution flies in turn 2 as Floyd spins.

Green flag back in the air for the late models, still only 6 laps remaining. Collins powers off turn 4 with the lead, Giffin in 2nd, King in 3rd, and Josh Henry is now looking for 4th, but Cardwell will keep it for now. Caution flies here on lap 26 as Heath Alvey spins in turn 4.

Green flag in the air with only 4 laps remaining, and Collins powers away with the lead, Giffin in 2nd, King in 3rd, Cardwell in 4th, but caution flies again as Romines spins in turn 2.

Green flag back in the air, now only 4 laps to go, and Collins powers off turn 4, Giffin remains in 2nd, and caution flies again as Chase King absolutely runs through Robby Moses in turn 3, those 2 evidently had something going and Chase King wanted to end it.

Green flag in the air, we’ll try again. Collins and Giffin take off, with Ryan King in tow, Henry finally makes the pass on Cardwell for 4th, as Rusty Ballenger is now battling Cardwell, as we make another lap. Collins in his own zip code tonight, with the white flag in the air. Checkers in the air, Collins takes the win, Terry spins off turn 2 with the white flag in the air, evidently something major broke on that machine, as his front end is currently sitting off the ground. Terry was making a nice comeback, but his machine turned a hard left off turn 2 on the last lap, and what a tough way to finish the race for Terry.
