RACE NIGHT RECAP

Mod-Mini
In Mod-Mini action, Cory Cate would take off with the early lead and cruise to the feature win. But the action was fairly tame, except a time or two. Current points leader Tommy Metler would let Dave Lewis know several times that he was behind him, as contact was made a few times throughout the feature. Chris Kelly seemed to possibly have something for Cate, but Kelly would get up high enough to finally pound the wall off turn 4. Metler and Lewis would battle tooth and nail until Brad Albright would spin Metler on lap 13, and both drivers would go to the rear, but with the rest of the field a lap or more down, their positions wouldn’t change. Albright tried to get around Metler the last lap, but Metler would take 3rd.

Topless Modifieds
In Topless Modifieds, Keith Gregory and Mike Lewis would lead them down to the green, but several cars would spin in turn 4 which brought about a complete restart. On the first lap, current points leader Josh Driskill slowed down the backstretch. Driskill would not return and would take a hit in the points chase. On the 2nd restart, Gregory got a better start, but would still have to fall in line behind Lewis. Young hotshoe Layne Clifton would briefly take over the 2nd spot, but Gregory would power back by Clifton to reclaim the 2nd spot. The 2nd caution would fly on lap 2 as Tyler James pounded the pit opening wall, careening back into the racing groove, but all drivers would get by without a scratch. On lap 6, Chase King powered his way around Johnny Ridings to take over the 4th spot and start working on the 3rd position, but almost immediately after getting beside Clifton, Chase King would lose a motor going into turn 1, so the bad luck has struck again for Chase King. Clifton would make the move on Gregory on lap 9 to take over the 2nd spot. Clifton would pull away and briefly lose power down the frontstretch, but it was too much ground for Gregory to make up.

Super Trucks
In Super Truck action, Robbie Comer has dominated the 2010 season, winning almost all of the features ran thus far, but Saturday night would be a different story. Comer and Freddy Hillard would lead the field down into turn 1. Hillard would take over the lead off turn 2 and would hold off Comer for the first half of the feature, but Comer would fade back through the top 5 over the 2nd half, as Robert Martin would get around Comer on around lap 15. Rocky Ogle would take over the 3rd spot on the last lap, and Comer would finish 4th.

Street Stocks
In Street Stock action, Brad Mills and Walter Sims would lead the field into turn 1, Sims would power into the lead off turn 2 and never look back, but the race was on behind them. Shepard would move into the 3rd position on lap 2 with the “Dirtwiz” Jon Cook in tow. The first caution would fly on lap 2 as Charlie Bates would slow in turn 4. With the green flag back out, Mills would challenge Sims in turn 1, but would fall back in line off turn 2, but the caution would fly again on lap 3 as Tim Kilby would spin. On the restart, Mills would power inside Sims again, but this time he would give up the 2nd position to Raymond “Rightfoot” Shepard, but tough luck would strike Shepard, as the right-rear wheel would come flying off the car off turn 4, and roll all the way across the infield and into turn 2 on lap 6. Mills would then be challenged from behind by Cook, but Kilby spin off turn 4, and no caution would be thrown, until Kilby stopped to get the caution. The green flag would be thrown one more time, and Cook took over the 2nd position, but caution would fly on lap 10 as Darrell Mayes spins in 3, collecting Kilby. Green/white/checkers as time has expired on the field, and the green flag would fly one last time and Cook would look inside Sims for the lead, and then off turn 4, coming to get the white, Mills looks inside Ogle for 3rd, but will spin off turn 4, and with the checkers in the air, Walter Sims would be the winner. NOTE: Tim Kilby was not legal by track tire rules, so he would not be officially scored. I felt it was better to write the story including him, than acting like he wasn’t there. Sorry for any confusion.

Classics
In Classics action, the racing was tame. Andy Ogle and Adam Engel would lead them down to the green flag. Mack McCarter, who has a $100 bounty for the first driver to beat him, would start shotgun to the field due to winning the past 3 features. McCarter wasted no time and spared no damage to move into the lead on lap 3 and never look back. The caution would fly on lap 1 as Ogle slowed on the frontstretch and couldn’t get out of the way. Adam Engel, who is getting better every week, would finish 2nd, and 3rd would be Bobby Pressley

Late Models
In Late Model action, we had 22 late models sign in, while 2 were eliminated in the B-Main and one elected to take the B-Main money. Cardwell would get the night started off by laying down an earth-shaking lap time of 14.263! He would spin a star on the wheel, inverting the entire field for the dash. Josh Collins and David Crabtree would lead them down to the green flag. But Crabtree wanted the early advantage, but a little too early, as he would jump the start. The green flag would be thrown one more time, with current points leader Josh Collins in the #66 loaner normally driven by Adam Beeler. Collins would lose a water pump and radiator in hot laps and finish the night in the #66. Crabtree and Collins would make contact on the 2nd restart, which opened the door for 2009 champion Jason Cardwell to take over the 2nd position. Cardwell would work on Crabtree for the next 3 laps until Cardwell would take over the lead on lap 4, but caution would fly soon after as Reuben Mayfield spins off turn 4. Green flag would fly and Cardwell would pull away with the lead with Crabtree in 2nd and Collins in 3rd. Caution would fly again on lap 7 as Pierce McCarter spins in turn 2. Green flag would fly again, only to see the caution again as Josh Henry was slowing and Eric Tipton had nowhere to go. Green flag would fly again, with Cardwell pulling off with the lead at the green, with Crabtree in tow and Collins in 3rd still. Cardwell would catch lapped traffic and make contact with one of the backmarkers, causing damage on the right-rear quarter of Cardwell’s machine. Cardwell would start slowing down slightly, finally giving up the lead on lap 26. Collins would take over the 2nd position over the last few laps, and Crabtree would cruise to the checkers. The final 23 laps would be ran under green.

Pure Mini
In Pure-Mini action, Dalton King would continue his dominance, by easily cruising to the victory. 2nd would go to Anthony Singleton and 3rd went to Scott Webb.
